Still amazed that prosecution is so dismissive of the fact that counterfeiting is what triggered the call.

From what I can recall, the dollar amount of the bill is not what causes concern, it's the fact that someone has plates and can print thousands of bills and the denominations may be higher as well, at that point authorities want to find where the bill originated from.

It really sounds like Minnesota is okay with you passing fake bills as long as you spread the fake bills out over multiple merchants.

Think about this. I take a fake $20 bill, buy a pack of gum, I now have $18 of real money from change. Rinse and repeat at a hundred quickie marts. Well worth my time to do this if getting caught is not viewed as a real crime,

Bottom line, this prosecutor will NEVER be able to successfully prosecute any future counterfeiting arrest. Absolutely would point to his closing argument in Floyd case as evidence that prosecutor does not feel counterfeiting is a meaningful crime.

Lastly, yes, I know, govt/Fed prints money out of thin air,

Just sayin

Good, it sounds like Nelson is going to show more of the videos than the jury has seen so far

I think Nelson should have pursued the space alien defense a bit further.

As big as Floyd was and the angle at which Chauvin's knee was on him would not have stopped Floyd from working loose if he was truly fighting for his life. His problem altogether was narcotic intoxication and exhaustion.

Really?

WTF is a "rebuttal" closing argument?

The prosecution now gets two closing arguments?

Defense usually has the last word, what is this BS?

A black slave once prayed for 20 years to be freed from slavery and nothing happened...

then one day he decided to pray with his legs and he ran his ass to freedom.

That is a true story.

This is not the end times, this is just another cycle of time like all the ones before it and all the ones to come.

God is not in the business of solving all our problems unless we sit on our asses for years and do nothing. Then all that is left if a hard core reset of some kind, but that is OUR CHOICE THROUGH NON ACTION TO DO GOOD.

Maybe it was aliens, Chauvin has really weird facial expressions I think he should have left the mask on.

Kinda looks like this guy, doing his best to act human:

This is sounding like a hose job. This whole trial has been a circus complete with clown shoes all over the place.

This trial was supposed to last a month. Streamlined to a couple weeks. Prejudicial testimony designed to pull at heart strings and rile up bad blood.

Shadow of a doubt. That's all the defense needs to prove their case. I would say they did more than enough to cast some light on trumped up charges to produce many shadows.

An honest and impartial jury finds Chauvin innocent and acquits. I have a sinking feeling something is amiss.

I'm beginning to wonder if Chauvin is going to be thrown under the proverbial bus in a misguided attempt to appease the mob. Should this happen it would set a very dangerous precident and we all need to be concerned.

Interesting how Nelson's explanation of the felony murder statute (killing clerk while robbing a liquor store) is almost verbatim what the Legal Insurrection blog wrote last night.

Food for thought!

(I also like Nelson's 'chocolate-chip cookie' metaphor!)

Correct, we took care of all business that we had downtown over the weekend. No reason to go back until late next month now.

Re: Derek Chauvin Trial - Day 15 - Closing Arguments - LiveStream
I can't recall the exact day of the trial or the witness, but the question of "Reasonable Use of Force" argument was mentioned before...

...and the fact that Chauvin, et. al., "de-escalated" by doing EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID is a mitigating factor! This was acknowledged/admitted/not rebutted by the State.

I believe this is the crucial point. The fact that the police did NOT escalate beyond what they did -- the state's own expert even admitted this -- is considered, legally speaking, a DE-ESCALATION of force. Thus, what Chauvin did was reasonable.

Nelson is circling this fact; I think he needs to continue hammering it home.
