People are usually quick to punish you if you echo any of their talking points because they assume you are one of them. People tend to be much more forgiving if you make it clear that you are not one of them.

I sympathize with the view that politicians on both the right and the left are controlled by a ruling elite, and that they're acting in concert to bring about a wicked agenda.

However, if you're not just talking about politicians and are extending your objections to ideology, then I strongly disagree.

While politicians on both sides may be two sides of the same coin, right wing ideology is very different from left wing ideology. It is my opinion that ideologically, the left is wrong on nearly every issue and I see no problem with identifying with a political position.
