This is the background... When you consider it, even though I don't advocate mass-murder - what they are saying makes more sense.

When the Soviet Union broke up, Ukraine ended up independent,and with most of the old Soviet Union's nukes. A multi-nation delegation went over to Ukraine to convince them to give up those nukes. In exchange, they swore up and down that they would defend Ukraine if need be. Ukraine then gave up their nukes... and so far... whatever that delegation said turned out to be P.R. and empty promises.
