France passes ‘historic’ law that sets age of sexual consent at 15, The legislation also changes laws on incestuous sex with minors
France has passed a “historic law” with a landmark vote in parliament to define sex with a child under the age of 15 as rape and prohibited sex with relatives aged under the age of 18.

On Thursday, the parliament voted unanimously to make rape with children below 15 a punishable offence, inviting up to 20 years in jail.

The long stand-law comes after the country was rocked by series of sex abuse scandals for years and allegations of incestuous abuse plagued the French elite.

Most European countries have age of consent from 12 to 17.

Americans can't understand. They think that you suddenly become ready for sex in the 24 hours when you go from being 17 to 18.

isnt it amazing how a law change in a country can suddenly change whats morally acceptable.. A man in a country who's age of consent is 18, that has sex with a girl of 17 is defined as a podophile and shunned by all of society.
Same man in France has sex with a girl of 15 and its considered ok and not paedophilia. So which country is correct? And what happens if a country decides to raise the age of consent to 20....damned

I agree.

Personally i am not sure about 15, as i would of thought at least 16.

You would suppose with all the immigrants france did this, as its probably out of control.

In the 1970's France had a national debate about abolishing age of consent laws all together. Post-modernist philosophers like Michel Foucault were all in favor of abolishing age of consent law all together, arguing young children could comprehend and consent to sexual acts with adults. This opinion was probably based on the fact he was a pedo who liked to sodomize young boys. Then he died of AIDS.
