A difference, and it is big, is that gold has uses other than money. Even if only used in jewelry that is a use. Bitcoin has no uses other than as money. Also, Bitcoin requires computer systems. Gold can be carried on your person. It can be traded anywhere in the world with and without electricity or computer systems. Even dollars can be traded without computers.

Gold is long term store of value, but it won't go up too much for a good while I don't think. It's nice to have when your silver stash starts getting heavy, be able to have a few grand in your pocket.

Silver has much more potential though, and in Egyptian times was worth even more than gold. But it could be a few years, and it's still not something you plan on ever selling unless there's an emergency.

I hear copper is what will go up in value the soonest, but I have no idea how to buy copper near spot, it's way too expensive online most places. I used to collect and strip wire but not anymore.

Bitcoin could go to zero (EMP, government outlaw) or it could go to the moon. (Silver could have premiums skyrocket soon where it basically becomes unobtanium by bottlenecking government mints, so this might be the last run for many). Physical gold will only sell what someone will pay you where you are. Bitcoin is global. I can sell it to some Iranian and get stable coin for it.

Bad background, at that time people were raiding other countries and people to get gold and silver. Their fall was because of fiat coins and economy base on the same thing as now. Gold was only used for making idols and jewelry. Bronze was the fiat of the day, too plentiful to be of much value. If you study those times you would understand more of what Jesus was saying about Roman Coins, it had the leaders head on it, its worth was that only, it was not godly or of worth it was greed pushing it. Idols and greed, kept the people under their foot. It had worked a long time, yet it never lasts, anytime in the history of monetary use it crashed. At that time, all the people were starting to lose everything and taxes were being laid on them, this was people who were free and had property.

When people figured out they needed gold and silver some went hog wild getting it as fast as they could. Rome failed, most of the countries failed, Civilization failed, it did not take long, a little long than some think, after the start food, housing and other things came to a stop. Then it was survival, not going straight into the other things that happened because of it, that came over years.

Most of the gold for the horde was used for decorations for the animals and jewelry, they were by their might taking the other things they needed. Of course, they did not live always doing this, they had homes and livestock, and people were scared to mess with them.

To survive this is to keep your head on straight don't be greedy and work if out in trade, just a note on paper that this is worth so many skins type things. It is fine if it fills the need.

Crypto has now gone mainstream and there's no stopping it.

Gold is only good so long as the other person values it.
It has no intrinsic value unless someone views it as an asset.
The only value it has is in tooth fillings and electronic devices.
Currently it is being valued via a fiat currency.
