Quoting: Doc_Holiday The House Judiciary Committee is set to vote Wednesday on the reparations bill, H.R. 40, which aims to establish a 13-person commission to study whether the descendants of slaves should receive compensation from the U.S. government. An estimated 40 million black Americans could receive some sort of payment to the tune of trillions of dollars. The move comes a day after President Joe Biden reiterated his support for the study during a meeting with leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus. [link to www.dailymail.co.uk (secure)]  My family ancestors made money as traders. Some of what they traded were slaves. Thing is at some point one of my ancestors realized the mistakes made. Fought for the North for freedom for black people. Is that not enough reperations? Do I get reperations now because I'm poor. Very poor. Struggle to feed my family. If they would have continued the things they were doing my family would still have enormous amounts of wealth. This whole thing is a mess. |
