Re: Looking for advice on what to do
My life-experiences (I'm pretty old) has taught me to never make a big move on fear alone.

Most fears we have in life never happens.

If you quit your job without having another one, and things don't go south right away, you'll end up spending all your retirement $.

I'm going to recommend you keep working or find another job before quitting your present one.

BTW, I was in similar circumstances years ago and quit my job and went through my lifesavings in under a year. It was the easiest thing I ever did... spend my $ I mean.
" Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord." ~ Jer. 17:5

"From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand"

If you cannot defend your current location with what you have now, you have absolutely no potential for survival when mobile with anything you can stuff into a truck and camper.
Your remaining lifespan on the road in a truck on your own even a hundred miles north of Wawa would be measured in minutes or hours before someone traps you at a roadblock or otherwise immobilizes your vehicle and starts with the unpleasantness of what comes next.
Pretending you can plow through a roadblock with any safety to get to safety is foolishness.

Your first priority at this stage of the game is to relocate yourself to a safe community in a deeply red state. I chose North Idaho. As a woman alone I realized I did not have a prayer without being surrounded by like-minded people. I picked a small town and joined a local church. Presto, instant allies. Having no family of my own, this was the best solution for me. Do not think that you can protect yourself, especially on the road. You need to find a community and the sooner the better. Plant yourself somewhere. Make sure you have guns and ammo. Make sure you have hundreds and hundreds of pounds of beans and rice at a very minimum. Get a high-quality water filtration device like a Berkey water filter. When I first moved up here I lived out in the country on 5 acres. It was entirely indefensible for one person, so I moved into town. It’s a very small town of down to earth people. By joining a local church I instantly multiplied my chances of staying alive.

You need to watch a movie called The Road and you need to read a book called One Second After. Do it quickly. Time is so short. Don’t think that you have six months because you don’t. People that are still living in the cities are entirely doomed.
