Re: Looking for advice on what to do
I have a loan on my truck still and I have fears that when the collapse happens I may be in jeopardy of losing it.

I have money to pay it off, but it’s locked up in my retirement and the only way to take it out is to quit my job.

And when the collapse happens, I could end up losing my retirement savings as well.

Would you quit work, pay off the loan and look for another job?

I need my truck to pull a camper that I bought to bug out btw.

I know this seems crazy, but my fears are real.

What would you do in my shoes?

Uhhh... if there's a collapse and SHTF and it's bad enough that you need to "bug out" then what makes you think your lender or any repo man would be worried enough about you and your truck payments? If things get that bad, they'll be worrying about themselves and their families, not you. Plus there are a gazillion other idiots with vehicle loans they can't afford. Next time, don't buy something you can't afford.

Roadblocks and checkpoints coming to Canada soon, could be.

Every creepy backwoods type and gangbanger will be setting up trees, and spike strips or other traps hoping to find some fool with supplies.
Roving gangs of bandits will band together to increase their odds of further success.

Jeezuz people, if youre expecting anarchy, THEN EXPECT REAL ANARCHY because thats what youre gonna get and every desperate stranger becomes a real mortal threat and every gang has every likelyhood of success against a normal person on their own expecting respect and normal civilized behavior

The problem, OP is your version of SHTF is unrealiztic, youre still expecting rule of law and civilized behavior and thats NOT SHTF and thats NOT what youre planning or outfitted for.

The only way to insure your safety and long term survival when and if SHTF is to have nothing and be nothing that anyone desires, needs or lusts for.

I think thats gonna be a significan problem for you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76626437

Yep, SHTF someone is going to take her truck alright but it won't be the repo man.

Nopr and any newly unrestrained Treyvon or Mohammand is gonna want to get freaky deaky and medieval on someones ass.

It amazes me that people will leave roads open and unrestricted when it all goes thunderdome.
Youre not gonna get to the end of the block before someone bushwacks some lone female in a nice truck and trailer full of supplies and errm, entertainment potential..

It’s near impossible to predict what the elite have planned for us, whatever it is it’s not looking good! In Australia they actually allowed us to draw up to two lots of $10,000 on our superannuation during the peak of the covid plandemic. If they do reset the financial system then most everyone will lose their retirement funds.

If I were in your shoes I would quit the job so you can access your retirement savings. I’d then pay off the loan and look for another job if need be. Your top priority should be to get out of dodge when the SHTF and you’ll need the truck and camper to do this! Use whatever money you have left over to buy all the necessary survival items and make sure a gun and ammunition is #1 on your list! All the best with your decision and like one of the earlier posters replied, pray to God for guidance!

OP exactly what do you think your survival scenario is?
Do you think when TSHF youre going to drive to someplace that nobody else wants for themselves under the same situation?

Really, lay out what you think will be your likely situation.

Dont worry about letting any secrets out, because I guarantee that at least a hundred of your fellow canadians are planning their own survival on the same are and are not going to want to share politely with strangers.

Say youre the first to get to your ideal spot, what happens when someone else drives up and says its theirs abd wants you off?

What will you do when you arrive and its already occupied?

What if your access if restricted and you cant get there?

Really, all the bugger outers really have not thought this through.

Some freaks will only care what one looks like bent over a chair.
Some people will want to 'do' a corpse.

Most people under normal situations try to forget what kinds of freaks are out there, and what depravity occurs when all restrictions evaporate.

The SHTF will NOT be rainbows and unicorns, please and thank you, it will be the very WORST of humanity for the foreseeable future and generally stays that way for a long time.

Criminals find safety and assistance when gathered together,
Unfortunately decent people dont do so well when foreced together and problems are more often than not the rule.
Almost inevitably any such group becomes dominated by a ruthless narcissitic despot.

The best odds under law of the jungle of success are with the wolves, not the sheep,.

Oh I think its coming, but when and exactly how is unknown and unlikely to be predictable until it in implemented.
Certain influential types want the west destroyed for a number of reasons, for sure.
I see things being arranged for a contrarian payoff and general forced default of the general public already leveraged to the hilt with no reserves.
The general weakness of the west in the face of furious development of invasion-provisioned military dictatorships and quasidictatorship bent on destructions of any resistance or competion especially with overt and unashamed nuclear blackmail make it inevitable.
But they have no need for surplus population except as slaves.

The fact that OP posts question and then disappears without engaging in the responses is significant in terms of framing the problem evaluation and framing the problem solving options in general as well is indicative of potential success for surviving the very scenario she proposed and wanted advice above.

I dont think so, its pretty typical for people outside of their depth for generating idealized question and conditions that one would prefer instead of the one most likely but more inconvenient and realistic under the conditions demonstrated to be likely.

In this case the issues most problematic are that its unlikely that free and save travel would be expected or that nobody would lay real or imagined claims to the exact same spot that OP believes she will find an retain possession of after arriving there.

The fact is that the elements assumed to be most desired and guaranteed, ie free and safe travel from a dangerous area as well as uncontested and secured occupancy of expected safe and property are exactly the least likely to occur and the most important elements in the scenario.
Its not realistic, and the investment money and lack of a free and clear title are the least important issues at hand.

Just sayin

No. Just pay a little extra on it each month. Make 2 smaller payments every 2 weeks instead of one large one. It reduces interest faster.
