Looking for advice on what to do
I have a loan on my truck still and I have fears that when the collapse happens I may be in jeopardy of losing it.

I have money to pay it off, but it’s locked up in my retirement and the only way to take it out is to quit my job.

And when the collapse happens, I could end up losing my retirement savings as well.

Would you quit work, pay off the loan and look for another job?

I need my truck to pull a camper that I bought to bug out btw.

I know this seems crazy, but my fears are real.

What would you do in my shoes?

It’s a real fear I’m dealing with, I’ve gone as far as I can go at work to take my money out, you just can’t because it’s a matching company program. I was told the only way is to quit.

If SHTF you will have more to worry about than the repo man.

If SHTF you will not likely be able to use the banking system or access your savings.

If SHTF you have to be able to assess risks and defend yourself from a 360 degree, 365, 24/7 risk potential from predators of every type willing to consume you to dust and leave you with nothing.

If it DOESNT turn into SHTF then you can carry on as normal.

C'mon Kate, I read your posts and admire your solid thinking.

Why the sudden fear today?

Don't make kneejerk moves based upon fear ...

Sleep on it awhile, the answer will show itself.

Bottom line, youd be far and away better off with partners with a broad range of skills complementary to yours thate you can trust because on your own youre dead meat no matter where you go.
Nobody can defend themselves against a world full of predators no matter what at least on your income.

Finding reliable partners is really the key to anything when SHTF,

You can take out a loan on your 401k maybe? I did and paid it back then did it again. You can beat inflation that way and still earn interest.

IF SHTF then EVERYONE becomes the repoman for anything they can get and anywhere they can get it and any road, sidewalk, path, stream, river or trail will have a toll booth manned by gangs of zombies every hundred meters or so.

Perhaps you think the SHTF will still be polite and reasonable and the infrastructure will remain intact?

Uhhh... if there's a collapse and SHTF and it's bad enough that you need to "bug out" then what makes you think your lender or any repo man would be worried enough about you and your truck payments? If things get that bad, they'll be worrying about themselves and their families, not you. Plus there are a gazillion other idiots with vehicle loans they can't afford. Next time, don't buy something you can't afford.

Take a step back and breathe. Step outside, smell the fresh air and relax. Fear is your enemy.

If TSHF happens, nothing you have will be worth anything, you’ll be on a level playing field with 300,000,000 other people who also lost their retirements. There won’t be any repo men to come take your car because they’ll be inundated with orders and they will have lost their retirement too. Banks will write off the loans because Big Government will bail them out.

Anyway, it would take 3-4 years to get to that state, and by then your truck better be paid off. Nobody should get a car loan for more than 48 months.

So chill, breathe and enjoy life today as nobody is promised a tomorrow.

I think Christians live in Babylon, and Christ wants them out. Western civilization is Babylon.

Go all out liquid while you can and get out. You have to take everything you can get into the dense wilderness. Seed, livestock, axes, Swede saw, 2 years of food. Make a list.

And yes, a capable mate if you wish, and a solid community.

If you want to stay in Babylon, you pay the price.

Don't wait for the collapse.

Take out your saving.

But what you think you need.

Sell what you don't need.

And start living the life you think you'll be living when the collapse happens.

If you cannot defend your current location with what you have now, you have absolutely no potential for survival when mobile with anything you can stuff into a truck and camper.
Your remaining lifespan on the road in a truck on your own even a hundred miles north of Wawa would be measured in minutes or hours before someone traps you at a roadblock or otherwise immobilizes your vehicle and starts with the unpleasantness of what comes next.
Pretending you can plow through a roadblock with any safety to get to safety is foolishness.
