I have suffered PTSD for the past 17 years and feel that those of us who have survived a near death experience belong to an exclusive club that nobody really understands.

Is that how you all feel as well?

People who survive PTSD are not victims.

They are survivers.

You sound like a victim because you are evidently a stupid moron.

"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.

The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."

I don't think you can equate "survival" with "wander without meaning".

I have C-PTSD, and I/we are a multiple, because of all the trauma... I/we are finally starting to not suffer... Learning how to opperate this system as one unit... The stuff we can pull off is sometimes scary, but I/we like it now.

Some of the alters can do things that can't be explained, but with enough practice... I/we hope to be able to do more than we, or any one of us can do now.

The abuse, and trauma are now my/our fuel, and it scares the living sh*t out of them. Especially when we are in a "magnetic" state, and are able to walk on the walls, or visit other worlds, and come back with knowledge.

...and yes I had 3 near death expieriances before becoming a multiple consciouness.

...and 1 near birth expieriance, but that's besides the point.

It gets old being so on edge and jumpy all the time, but I try to ignore it. I beat my demons long ago. You have to decide you're not a victim, and remind yourself that everyday. Now the issue is just basic memory issues. Been concussed too many times, I definitely can't think as quick as I used to.

My head was bruised do bad, after 7 months I literally felt my my brain shift in my skull and the headache was so severe, I would not have been able to tolerate it if it lasted more than seconds.

Even a minute and I'd be screaming like a possessed demon -it was absolutely intolerable.

Of course, the fog in the brain never clears but my cognitive skills are still strong so i can fuck with the sorry bastards who call PTSD fake.

Many of us don't even know we suffer from PTSD and since I believe in Karma, I think that sooner or later, the ignorant ones will get their just desert -those of us who suffer, don't suffer fools very easily.

The irony or rather paradox of it all, is that no one can give us meaning, it has to be from within, yet we can go in a cave for years on end and whatever meaning we find will never hold up once we leave cave and re-introduce others and others are added to the mix...

i.e. we need others to find meaning within.

For most people, meaning is simply a purpose -like the need to
be a good father or mother.

On the one hand, it's personal, but on the other, love and urge to care forfamily appears to be universal -in the animal kingdom.

It is certainly more challenging when plans are thwarted by PTSD.

I awoke to find my 4month old first born purple and watched his mother bring him back to life. Alive, bright eyed and Alert. But by calling 911.

Led to a sequence of events within hospital care that transpired to severe brain injury. For 15 years after replaying events in my head over and over. There is no denying the events was some form of destiny and could not be avoided. ( with exception of my choices at every corner)

Everyday and most certainly ongoing, as I care for his physical and mental well being, I still ponder where this nightmare is leading us and for what purpose of this daily suffering.

I have my thoughts for the reasoning, but must keep them to myself.

There is one undeniable conclusion, that I must stay strong for my second born son, my wife and obviously my first born. Not to mention keeping myself mentally and physically strong. Without ANY mind altering substance.

And you know what. I do not have this so called PTSD, I do not have this so called depression.

I have strength.

Wow, just wow, dissociative disorders which form alters can be very dangerous and can turn you're life into a living hell.

In the UK, there is NO real recognition of this affliction which is of course subsequent to early life severe traumas and C-PTSD. As a consequence the mentally ill are overly represented in the prison population through no fault of their own.

I can only describe the feelings of dissociation as if it was possession. I have only known about this disorder for six months after a life of absolute misery. A lifetime of self loathing, guilt's shame and disasters.

There is some useful information for you here if you follow this safe link. See if you can find yourself in it!

In the UK mental health provision is Dickensian.

yup.. how does one explain conscious awareness existing outside of one's physical body, 360° vision, weightless, instant travel through walls to other locations, etc..

Dissociative disorder/multiple personalities can be healed. Emotional trauma triggers it, yet there are a variety of therapeutic techniques that can also heal it.

Just adding to the perspective. Basically he is aware of his surroundings, but movement is limited to only neck region and right arm. No verbal, but emotionally and awareness seems to fit his age. 15 years.

For 15 years. We have never received assistance, by family, by government, and very little assistance from insurance.

Everyone in our household has learned to stay strong (4 of us) no matter the situation. Yes we have hiccups. Which is quickly realized that we have no choice and time to toughen up.

Me nor my wife have never had any mind altering medication, nor do we drink or drugs. Keeping a sound mind, willing and prepared for worst case scenario. Which in reality is every moment.

To be honest and what I really wanted to say, What has kept me with an ongoing strong mentality. Is knowing my first born has been through so much more that even I have a hard time to fathom, despite witnessing it 24/7.

If he can awaken with a half ass smile. I need to toughen up everyday and push forward. And try squeeze something good out of each and everyday. For him, for his mother, for his younger brother. And me, I just need to focus on staying strong, so the family follows.

Stay strong OP

No, beyond the experience that triggered PTSD 17 years ago I have led a rather sheltered life, but it has been very difficult coping with PTSD because you basically suffer alone and people either do not understand it or give a shit.

Most people are too full of themselves to get it.

Thank God, it would be an absolute nightmare, I think, to suffer from Complex-PTSD.
