People that fast might find some health benefits if they are older and not very active. Fasting has put me over the edge with energy and not being able to sleep at night when I did 1 meal a day. My body was in starvation mode wanting to hunt for food but it was just down the hall in the kitchen and I could not control that primal instinct with a refrigerator available. Eating 5 small meals a day has me sleeping like a baby, 9-10 hours a night, feeling very warm and still energized without feeling like a meth head. Maybe some people like that meth feeling. I'm sure it's different for everyone but I've tried both and I'm never hungry or hangry this way. My mood is more stable probably because hormones aren't swaying from one extreme to another. I've heard fasting isn't good for women either because of the hormones. It seemed to be that way for me at least. our bodies are doing one of two things at all times...its either DIGESTING or its DETOXIFYING. it doesnt do both at the same time. when you eat, your body stops detoxyifying and begins digesting. also, scientists found that rats who were fed LESS lived much longer than the rats who ate as much as they wanted. |

That can pack on fluid weight. Eat more whole foods. Put down the salt shaker. Maybe fast for 12 hours. And eat about 4 times during the other 12 hours. |

That is an absolute fact! The body burns fat only when insulin is low. That is an absolute fact, too! Carbohydrates ( therefore glucose) cause insulin to go high. On a fast, insulin goes low, and you start to burn fat. It cannot store fat until insulin goes high. So your idea that a cold fasting body stores energy is wrong. Bodybuilders burn off excess carbohydrates daily which removes glycogen/ glucose, and causes insulin to go low. When insulin is low, body fat is burned off. Their diet is high protein , low carbohydrate. They are lean because the higher the muscle mass, the more energy is used up, which coupled with the diets puts them in a low insulin situation for the majority of the day and during the night. That is why they are lean, not because of 5/6 meals a day. Fasting more than two days will put most people into ketosis. On the 3rd day of fasting the body produces increasing numbers of stem cells to enact repairs. Lots of vids, here is one "Dr." Berg is a chiropractor and has snake oil to sell. my a1c is 4.8 I believe its the amount of food consumed and not used as energy that causes that diabetes. Some people have limited number of fat cells, once they reach that capacity people start getting higher blood sugar because there is no extra cells to store the energy and it starts circulating in the blood and damaging organs. There is no standard weight for diabetes, it varies depending on the fat cells a person can produce. I've seen very fat people that don't have diabetes and my dad that is only 5'9" and 150 that has diabetes 2. He doesn't have the fat cells. If he built some muscle that will all go away but he's too old for that now without hormones. Dr Berg is just selling stuff to lazy people. I went from being a pot bellied older man to a lean 125 lb. rock hard bundle of energy ... I feel like I did in High School ... I work hard everyday lifting 10-40 lbs. ... 8-10 hrs. a day at work ... I also eat real food ... grass fed beef , sardines , and greens ... like kale, spinach and collard greens ... also legumes: also called pulse ( in the Bible ) ... take care of Your Temple ... My doctor is aware that I am attempting to build strength in my body and this is a good way to keep track of what I am eating and the results I get lifting weights from it.
