So my wife and I planned a trip to Cancun with 8 other friends in January. We were to be at an all inclusive from April 2 through 10th. Booked and paid for it. Then the mandatory covid testing to re enter the US was ordered. I was very skeptical and wanted to cancel but the wife didn't. The resort will test us for free and if we couldn't leave they would let us stay for free if quarantined. I still wanted to cancel. But I against my better judgement agreed to come.

Well 3 days before our flight home we all took a rapid test. Everyone tested negative except my wife. They retested with a rapid and then a pcr test( all of which we had to pay for). They are all positive. She has no symptoms and feels good.
So they immediately moved us to a different property for quarantine. She has to stay in her own room for 10_14 days. There is hotel security watching these rooms. They offered me a room below hers if I wanted to pay for it at a discount.
Well I'm not gonna leave her in Mexico by herself so I reluctantly agree..

So in 8 days i will have to take another rapid test to get on the flight home and my wife will need a letter from the doctor stating she is cleared to fly.
My worry is that i will test positive and I will have to spend another 10_14 days here. I'm sending her home regardless.

Just hope we have jobs left when we get back...

The land border is closed unless you're a Mexican citizen. If you're a US citizen you have to fly to get in/out.

On March 27, Schmidt flew to Playa Del Carmen for her daughter's senior trip. They were joined by two other moms and their daughters. Another mom chose to get tested before leaving and ended up being positive for COVID-19; she and her daughter stayed home.

Schmidt is a nurse practitioner at Children's Minnesota and has been fully vaccinated since the beginning of January. Even so, she opted to get the hotel's COVID insurance. The $30 insurance covers a person's stay at the hotel for an additional 14 days, including a room and food.

She was the only one vaccinated out of her travel group that tested positive for covid. How stupid is that? Great vaccine huh?

Mail all your Identification to your home address, then join a Caravan, you will be back home in no time. Covid positive or not. Joe don't care.

Can you get your next test through another company not affiliated with the resort?

Sorry you are going through this! I love going to Riviera Maya to one of my favorite all-inclusive resorts. We went every year for over 10 years. We were just talking about going back, but your story scares the shit outta me. I sure hope you and your wife get home soon!

It would have been cheaper to rent a car in Mexico and then rent another car at the US boarder.

It's maddening that you are going through this - and at the same time our boarders are letting anyone in.
