i doubt they're interested in us at all.

If I was a superior species to humans and wanted them gone, I’d use a virus that attacked the brain. It would be spread on the wind, highly contagious, with a 100% mortality rate.

Another misconception, that they are necessarily a super advanced race hundreds of thousands of years ahead of us.
Maybe they just got lucky and figured something out that we haven't.
