Due North moving back and forth 30+ degrees! Seems like the earth is wobbling!

I remember this as well specifically for Tampa airport about 12 years ago

I was trying to find the compass thread from 2011 that I remembered, and using GLP's advanced search I found out there are plenty of compass threads from that year, and of course more recent but that year had lots of those threads.

The earth's axis is ALWAYS tilted. A few years ago, the wobble stopped, after a large earthquake, but the wobble soon returned. The axle tilt is always there.
Fine Folks of GLP, when someone talks about the poles changing, they are ALways talking about the Magnetic poles. If the actual rotation pole changed you would know itg immmediately because the pacific or the atlantic ocean would be in your lap.

Wobbling whilst spinning around chasing the tail of the Sun through the universe at A Gazillion miles and Hour ? ?.

You should not use a compass (magnetic) to set a sundial, which depends on the earth's rotation. Magnetic north is never equal to true (rotational) north. Use a map, a road or other landmark that's going north-south or east-west, etc. according to the map, to set the sundial.

Still, by comparing compass readings across time and seeing them swing, you have found something interesting. Several posters are in rural areas on ridge tops, so it's unlikely that magnetic machinery is throwing things off. It seems far more likely to me that magnetic north is moving around, than that the rotational pole is moving. For the rotational pole to move there would have to be a massive input of angular momentum from somewhere, and I cannot imagine where it would come from. The magnetic pole is known to move, but not this fast.

What would be interesting is for several people in different places to keep a log of compass readings. It would be great if this can be done automatically by an app i.e. you set a phone down in a fixed direction and it records the magnetic heading every minute or every hour into a table.

And then we could post and compare. Are they all moving at the same time?

Personally I don't have a cellphone but otherwise I'd try this.

Did said change feel like a sudden really intense bout of vertigo while sitting down, sitting down, or walking, Super deplorable ChugALug? I figure to ask because I have been getting such bouts of vertigo somewhat recently time to time. only it does not feel as though I am unwell. This happened at least five times over the course of last night at Choctaw and at my sisters' house as well. Very bizarre.



I have lurked here for years and this very thread and your post have finally compelled me to create an account to relay this:

A few months back, my wife and I went to a local small bar to have some drinks and shoot some pool. I dont drink a whole lot, but at the point in the evening that this occurred I was most certainly, without a doubt NOT intoxicated.

At some point I decide to go use the restroom. An earlier greasy supper was quickly coming back to haunt me....no nausea mind you, and it wasn't food poisoning or anything like that .. just a post supper shit lol... at the risk of giving you tmi, but it's important to this story.

Shortly after I sat on the toilet I looked down at my phone and as soon as I did, it literally felt like the entire universe began to sort of fold inside of itself. A feeling as if the toilet (and the floor underneath it and the ground beneath that etc) was beginning to rotate forward as if my perception of reality was doing the equivalent of a cosmic forward summersault. That's about the best way I can describe it.

I immediately almost lost my balance and tried to understand what had happened. As I looked around things were normal again but the MOMENT I again looked down towards my phone and consquently the floor, suddenly the entire thing began to happen just as it did the first time! Like the floor beneath me was just tilting as if activating a giant spinning trap door!

This sensation was so strange I actually mentioned it to the bartender and asked him... "Do people ever say that they get disoriented in the bathroom stall???"
He said that people mentioned it on at least several occasions. I also mentioned it to my wife and told her, "Look you've got to check this out, ill guard the door to the mens restroom" lol.

She did... experienced the same thing!

My initial thought was that this occured as a result of an optical illusion because there was tile on both the floor and walls and I thought that due to some intersection in my field of vision, that the tile lines going different directions, somehow made my equilibrium go haywire..

Fast forward... several months pass

I again return to the bar. And of course the first thing I had to do was to go to sit on the toilet and see if it still induced the strange semipsychedelic feelings lol.

but alas..... NOTHING.

Whatever it was that was originally causing the sensation had since disappeared! Wife also confirmed the same. So its not a matter of individual perception.

Anyway... I just had to share this as I always thought it was so strange but didn't really have any explanation whatsoever! Interested to hear any similar experiences!!

I'm not reading through 6 pages but did you calibrate your phone first? If not, it's going to be all over the place. calibrate in the spot you're going to use it.

That is fascinating! Thanks for sharing that! Would be interesting to know if that particular location was on a lei line (someone else mentioned that earlier).

Our home is located on a ridge where the Cherokee had an ancient burial ground. There are still old sweat caves on the ridge where they had their ceremonial grounds. I have read that they chose special locations for these places based on perceived supernatural vortices. We hear booms all the time and see plasma balls of lightning coming up from the trees so it is possible we have rich mineral deposits in the ground that could affect a compass.

I also have had bouts of vertigo recently but they go away as quickly as they come. Not sure if its due to a shift in the atmosphere or menopause (i know...tmi! ). But hearing from others, it could be from some shift we are all sensing. Keep us posted if you go back to the bar and experience that again. Crazy days!

I have not and that could be the cause but my husband is also noticing the sun has shifted. He sits in a chair on our covered back porch in the early evenings to watch the sunset and some days the sun is lower in the sky and blinds him while others, it sits higher in the sky and he remains in the shade. Don't need a compass for that observation. Something is definitely not right!

I also laughed.

I don't know how to explain the wobble. I saw evidence of it too, but I did not feel anything like seasickness (although that would not necessarily be noticeable, after all the Coriolis acceleration in the northern hemisphere is a constant left turn, and we don't feel that). Some enormous input of angular momentum would be needed, and there's not a big pair of forceps grabbling the earth and rotating it, so I can't see how enough of an angular momentum change could be added to produce such a wobble -- and without causing strange tides in the oceans.

The earth's axis is always tilted, that's why we have winter and summer away from the equator. That tilt is constant, unless there is a wobble which I don't believe there is.

Is the sundial made of metal?

I noticed when I would lay my map out on the hood of my pickup, I would get compass fluctuations... then someone told me about metal from my truck interfering with the compass.

Try a regular compass, and be sure there are no metals around, and then see if the Northline keeps moving....

Time-warp, the Earth is moving into and out of time-warps spinning on it's wobbly axis constantly causing magnetic flux similar to the flux capacitor in Back to the Future.

Back and forth teeter totter like a drunk trying to walk.

The magnetic shifts flip flop as shown in the ocean core samples taken from the ocean floor.

By placing a star chart on top of the earth it clearly shows the gematria numerology along certain points and ley lines coordinating by cross checking the movements.

I have calibrated my iphone compass and am still seeing drastic swings of 30 degrees when pointing due north. I do not have any metal around that would cause this effect. I am waiting on the real compass that I ordered to arrive tomorrow and will do a comparison. Just wanted to clarify those things. We are seeing drastic swings in the jet stream as well as the ocean currents which I believe are due to this fluctuation. For those who do not think the earth can wobble, you are entitled to your opinion but scriptures tell us otherwise.

You said you have found another compass, while the new one arives, what happens with the one you found?

To see how steel affects it, move it around an iron object, or place it above a car and then get away from the car or other metallic objects, you will see a swing, sometimes also dramatic. I am not doubting of your observations, just you need to be aware how compasses are afected by the position in which they are used.

Watcher, I would like to thank you for the bread of this thread which led me to learn why my sundial seemed off in pointing to true north (daylight savings time.)

I would also like to offer you this piece of bread to show you how to determine the declination between true/due north and magnetic north for your location. It varies depending on where you are.

Several of us have pointed out that there is a difference between true/due/map north and magnetic north. Sundials are can't be properly set using a compass. You have to use the sun using a clock or lining it up at noon/one pm if DST where no shadow shows.

Last year I suddenly started have bouts of Vertigo (nothing this year so far). I went to my Health Food store & got a homeopathic remedy from a company called "Orange naturals". The remedy is called Vertige. It is awesome & it gets rid of the Vertigo very quickly. I highly recommend if you are having unexplained Vertigo, to try a Homeopathic.

My uneducated guess might be that you just fiddle with the dial around noonish and when you get the TINIEST little shadow possible right under the V there you have done as good as you can. And that time of day when the shadow is the tiniest is NOON *where you are*.

I would wonder if this is best done at the vernal or autumnal equinox (mar 21, sep 21) in most locals.

To get a general idea of north, to know how to initially place your dial prior to fiddling with it, you can just put the sunset to your left and the sunrise to your right and point the dial right up the middle.

Bahahahaha! Your methodology is entirely based on using your phone compass? You think that's rigorous at all? Your phone compass requires constant calibration, how did you control for that? How do you explain the fact that polar aligned telescopes still work at all? If true north were swinging back and forth by 30 degrees they wouldn't work at all!

So you didn't calibrate shit and you don't understand how the seasons work either. Got it.
