I have never hosed down some birds until yesterday
You know what’s so cute? Yesterday I went to clean the bird bath and refill it, so I had the hose and spray nozzle and it was on. Well there was about 5 rainbow lorikeets there that would not leave. They seemed to say “spray us, give us a shower lovergirl!” so I switched the nozzle to shower and started spraying those little buggers.

They absolutely loved it! They love the water that’s why they have the word “rain” in their name! It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and made my heart happy.

:lorikeet:

The first part of this video shows some bathing. We have the bird baths up high on top of the swing set so the cats can’t get them.

I wonder if black birds, like ravens and crows, actually have colors, but the colors are outside our color spectrum, so they appear "black",

I love this! Thank you for posting the video.

Here I doves and finches and they fly away if I’m in the garden, but I will mist the Monarch butterflies and they love it. They will fly in the mist and then find a sunny spot to rest.

Spending time in the garden seems they only comforting place these days

Haha! Yea birds are so funny! I miss sparrows sometimes, there are hardly any around here. We got these annoying birds called noisy miners that chased them all away.

It’s so fun to scare the doves, they love being frightened. Yes it’s the best, spending time in the garden.

That’s crazy about the monarchs! I never knew they liked mist!

Robins like it too.
They run under the spray of the hose and also follow the water from the sprinkler.

Wrens don't like it though.

They take dirt baths in the garden. The babies along with a parent just 5 feet from me as I pull weeds.

We have a mutant lorikeet here, in a cage. One of my jobs is to keep it happy. I’ve just got done blow drying the little demon after his bath. He loves the blow dryer

The thing is, they don’t even eat seed! But yea the birds here blow away the birds back home, it’s fucking paradise for a bird lover like me. I feed these lorikeets grapes, pears and apples, but they really prefer nectar or honey. Their tongue’s are hairy! I’ve actually touched tongues with the one we have as a pet. It feels really weird but he loves a good tonguing.

I love birds although I don't have anything as exotic as that around my house. Sitting here drinking coffee as a Robin repeatedly smacks itself into my bedroom window. Things gone mad. I guess it's his reflection he is after.
