Well... better than buying last minute items already assembled, I'd wonder what else you could make a firearm with yourself that will stay legal to purchase? Especially if you bought and learned how to use certain tools to I don't know pour your own steal with into a mold and machine it etc.

They make some fairly good software I think in the FEA / CAD realms that's open source that isn't too too hard to learn to design your own with, that'll do heat and pressure and structures and such. And you can check it with hand calcs if you carefully read some engineering texts.

I always wanted a firearm you could reload with rounds that fit inside plastic holders that could hold any home made slug, and since the plastic would be what touched the barrel, it wouldn't needs be lead it was made of at all.

You know you can make accelerants out of water using electrolysis, just with DC current, and it would work kind of like how they'd use hair spray in potato guns. Only you'd have to figure out a different exact way to do that.
