Good idea. If the banks of the canal are high enough. On Sunday, the high tide is a Spring tide I think. Almost 2 ft higher than the other day. https://imgur.com/bWZfVni Last Edited by JustmeTX on 03/26/2021 05:32 PM Justme |

I read the links are 500 lbs each. be careful not to capsize the whole ship though. |

I read the links are 500 lbs each. be careful not to capsize the whole ship though. I think the chain links would bind on the edge of the opening in the ship. The anchor rode would need to come off at a 45 degree angle or something like that. Sailboats do this all the time, called kedging, but I think they take a rope anchor rode straight to the windlass or winch and it either spools straight off the winch or there is a roller fairlead. I think a large ship is just designed to handle a limited chain angle. I could be wrong though. [link to www.myseatime.com (secure)] Last Edited by JustmeTX on 03/26/2021 10:16 PM Justme |
