Who are you telling to think and that you feel hopeless about, Sugar? This thread could be titled "A Girl Scout Mom's lament". It came from a moment of ... grief ... while taking care of Girl Scout business with other mothers. Families are so exhausted. Girl scout leaders and involved moms are typically gung-ho, positive, can-do ladies. We routinely organize, entertain and educate dozens of kids ... voluntarily ... and we try to instill the best values in our girls. We were creative and flexible and hard working this past year ... all of us ... we got through some crazy stuff that we never expected to happen and we were determined to do so. Just like everyone else. But ... now that we're on the other side and .. spent. Exhausted, wounded, discombobulated. Now's the time to plan for a better future, and we can't muster up the energy. I feel like that's not only Girl Scout moms, but society in general. Lots of people just gave up. That makes me sad. I hope we can get re-energized and implement what we've learned for the future. When the shit hits the fan and the end is just nigh, will you cry out to Heaven? Will you lie down and die? Not me, my dear one - THIS IS MY SACRED LIFE - to no one nor no thing I'll surrender. Around here, I expect people to be out and about again and there is an uptick ... but it's not back to normal and it never will be. Feels like going backward. Like after all that, instead of bouncing back, we're sliding into a depression. Not economically ... in general everything is staying depressed when it should be bouncing back ... individuals, business, art ... public services ... when will the public library open again? Probably never. No one cares enough, it seems. Edit: No - it's not that no one cares - it's that no one has the energy. The fear mongering media and the stress of the virus - the rearranging of our lives - not to mention the election ... left us all spent. Lots of urine on chairs too. Children were not safe. I have been a hermit and this lifestyle is optimal for me. I also enjoy the masks because the ugly and bad breath is hidden. I feel sorry for all the social butterflies. Let me show you the world in my eyes. |

The money groping system is led by the most ruthless gangsters in mind. And the duty of the middle class it is to make their game tolerable by diligent support with laws and orders, guided always by the interests of the latter. So the question, how to make money beholds its imperial grandezza over all other maybe competitions. The note, we are not that bad as they are has not enough strength to build up something new. |

I feel sorry for all the social butterflies. Let me show you the world in my eyes. My natural tendency is to isolate, as well, but I also tend to get extremely depressed, especially in winter. I joined and got involved with various groups over the years because the organization and the purpose - commitments to various things - was really the only motivation for me to get out of bed most days. I needed people to count on me for various things, otherwise life would have just passed me by. Plus, I didn't want the kids to see me isolated and depressed all the time. Before the virus, I was probably over-extended and over-committed. But by forcing myself to be around others and committing to be there on this day or that, I was able to get through the week, and the kids got to participate in a lot of activities. Particularly scouts. That was something organized and productive that we could all do together. We did every silly little piddling thing, and made a nice big deal about it for the girls. We've pretty much lost half the troop without the activities. Zoom meetings are nice to keep it going, but parents don't want to be bothered after all the school zooming. The girl scout camps are not still not scheduling overnight camping ... days at camp have been enough for everyone ... I'm afraid camp might end up being a thing of the past, as well. As a software developer, I've always been able to work from home as needed. That was lucky, but now I find myself wishing I could go into the office again. IT's the same attitude at work. Everyone is able to work from home, so no one has bothered with the office. If I were to go in, I'd be there all alone. I guess I thought more people would be itching to get back to it. All the activity was working for me, and keeping me sane. Now it's like everything is broken, and it's not worth fixing.
