I was thinking how I used to have friends that would call regular and chat chat about stuff I cared nothing of, but I let them talk at me. They do not call any longer, or I am unawares as I no longer answer the phone after a life time of doing so for not. I thought i missed these calls and the abuse of being chained to a phone call, and so I called a few peeps I know. Bitches hung up on me. I guess they did not like talking at me any more then i liked it. Do you know people who call you constantly to chat and pour their bleeding hearts out? I seriously could give you a phone pal if you need one? If you need a parasite and a carbuncle for some reason, I can hook you up. I have two friends I allow to communicate with me on the phone. They are my absolute limit. Other people are by messenger. I have a great friendship with someone I met from GLP through messenger. We have been friends for years now, and both of us do not like the phone so it works great. My 2 friends I talk on the phone with are understanding about the fact that even that is limited. Sometimes I just do not have "my brain on" to talk. I don't have any family, just my son. So these 2 friends are more like family - probably why I can handle the phone calls here and there. They are the only ones. But I can tell you, I really don't want any more phone commitment. Its exhausting.

He would carry that tablet around until he fell asleep talking to me. He was something special. Sadly he had MS, and his personality changed so our situation fell apart. Up until, he talked to me more than anyone else I had ever known in life. We just managed to click. Still miss him. I would talk to him on the phone.

I don't like chatting on the phone cos of the risk from cell phone radiation. Landlines are fine. Zoom is alright too. You could find a private voice app, OP, and make a GLP room. Messages are better in 2021, but when I was a kid, I was on the phone all day. Maybe one middle-ground is sending voice messages. I knew a girl who did that, it was really cool. Some people are phone people and some aren't. I prefer email, rarely text and don't use social media. I engage with some people on various forums through private messaging sometimes. One of my favorite parts about not working is not having to carry an extra cell phone. Also, keep in mind that some people are really struggling with the lockdowns. People that would normally get out and about are stuck at home and bored or lonely or both.
