Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been thinkin'. We've been battling this imaginary crisis for over a year now. It has occurred to me that the illustrious Rahm Emanuel, who served as Barry's Chief of Staff for about a year and a half, once said that you don't ever want to let a serious crisis to go to waste.[/l] You should milk it for all you can get out of it. Crises provide leverage that can't be found during "normal" times.
The only thing: a real crisis tends to require nimble action to rectify. It's not easy to maximize the strategic advantage of a real crisis when you're preoccupied (rightly) with putting the fire out.
A contrived crisis, on the other hand . . . a contrived crisis has several useful qualities. Top of the list: it's not real to begin with, so there's no danger of the fire becoming hopelessly uncontrollable. You have the luxury of writing the script yourself. Sure, there'll be some missteps along the way, and minor adjustments will be needed. But a synthetic crisis is so much simpler to administer than a genuine crisis.
Rahm Emanuel is a formidable foe. And in my opinion, a truer weaseldick would be hard to find. The archetype of the modern-day Democrat. Could he alone have dreamt up the Corona scheme? I think it's possible. He wouldn't have had to come up with the whole narrative singlehandedly, though; the Democrat party is burgeoning with underhanded operators (and I don't mean to sell the Republicans short . . . they've got their share.)
Rahm left the Barry White House on October 1, 2010. Six months later (after successfully circumventing Chicago's silly "residency requirement"), he was mayor of Chicago. Four years later, he began his second term.
In 2016, Mr. Trump prevailed in an underfortified election, defeating Rahm's longtime bud Hillary Rodham. That had to sting.
In 2017, Rahm announced he'd take a third term as mayor of Chicago when it came time in 2019. But in 2018, he changed his mind.
At that point, he may not have even had the brainstorm of concocting and marketing a synthetic pandemic. But he knew that somehow, a way had to be devised to wrest the Presidency away from Mr. Trump. In a second term, there's no telling what Trump might do. Even Roe v. Wade could be in jeopardy. Rahm knew his country needed him more than Chicago did.
And currently, he's being considered for the ambassadorship to China. Or possibly to Japan. |
