She only had 2 interviews, got both jobs. Quoting: SugarSand One as a lifeguard, one at a deli/restaurant as help not working the slicer. Probably washing dishes. Good for her! Thank God she doesn't have a a family to support, pay taxes, insurance, clothe/feed children, school tuition, gas, car payments, utility bills, iPhone 25, sneakers... I could keep going, ya know? She's fucking 15. For real. First job. She WILL have a family to support ... hopefully when she graduated college. What adult with a family aspires to make minimum wage? This is how we all started out ... Nobody "aspires" to be a lifeguard or work in a deli but sometimes people have bills that need to be paid. I don't think "lack of skills" should mean that grown adults are stripped of their autonomy, being forced to rent a bedroom in a 4 or 5 BR house in order to make ends meet. When I was in HS I worked at a movie theater and most everyone I worked with were grown adults who had been working there for 10+ years. I see nothing wrong with maintaining a low skill/low pay job if that's all you need to stay afloat. That's what I mean I'm talking about high school jobs. There are no adults who want to be a summer lifeguard!!! People have HUGE chips on their shoulders from employment issues. I don't blame them. Washington is full of clueless fools with shit for brains. What do you suppose happens if no one can afford real estate? It ruins EVERYONE. Foreigners will buy real estate and no young couples will buy starter homes. Right now things are bizarre as folks who own urban property are selling and buying less expensive rural property. Eventually that will RUIN rural real estate as locals be able to afford it. What would be the real job? If there was an abundance of jobs for millenials, what would they be? Lest you think someone can always get a job in healthcare, RNs today make 30% than they did in the eighties based on inflation. They can hardly get people to become RNs because of it. The same is true of physicians. They make 30% less because of reduced reimbursement due to managed care. Many physicians said fuck it as running a parctice is too expensive and became hospitalists. |

Even half the entry level corporate desk monkey jobs now want masters degrees just to get an interview. The fact is, there are not enough "degreed professional" jobs to go around and there never have been. Most people worked menial task labor jobs their entire lives until about 20 years ago. Every single professional position out there has 500 qualified applicants. The only reason most of these people have degrees to begin with is they were pushed to do so for lack of industrial jobs. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 48551132 United Kingdom 03/09/2021 07:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The primary reason American were able to buy single family dwellings was a large middle class of high school graduates working in industry. That lasted from 1946-1995, started declining due to globalism, and less and less new single family dwellings occurred. If you go further back, about 1973, many women entered the workforce in America. This double the labor pool and so that also stiffled wages as twice as many people were competing. |
