I don't think so. I'm married 32yrs, sex is much less frquent now, but our love for each other has only grown.

I feel regarding the subject is that sex is the most intimate expression of love.. so why would it get in the way when without it lovers wouldn't have become true lovers just yet?

I think when we engage in sex too soon, the sex crowds out the process of truly getting to know each other in a way that can grow into real love.

Instead of getting to know the person deeply and having the relationship built on a strong foundation of trust and mutual respect built from long term interaction and experiences as friends and individual people, we warp the relationship by making it mostly about sex too soon.

Sex can also get in the way of love, if one of the partners is selfish in bed.

I think it depends on the person and their attitude towards sex. Sex for me has always been about the desire to get as close as possible to a woman who I already care about deeply. Love has always grown out of that.

In contrast, you have those individuals who have been hurt through sex. They tend to separate love and sex. Until they overcome their own hurt, sex does get it the way of love. However, for them, because of their unresolved hurt, love isn't really possible for them anyhow.

So, I would say that sex gets in the way of love, but only for those individuals who are, for a variety of reasons, unable ( or with reduced ability) to fall in love.
