it looks normal.

why's it so yellow though?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 52458716

Doesn't look yellow to me. It does have garlic powder in it, but only 3/4 t....doubt that would make much of a difference.

Otherwise, I used unbleached bread flour.

This is the recipe I'm following, although I'm using my processor, instead of a standing mixer--

I'm REALLY hoping it comes out excellent!.....ohyeah

Looks kind of complicated!

I finally tried making homemade bread for the first time a couple of weeks ago when I was stuck inside during the freeze. Came out wonderful and plan to do it again this weekend.

cheers

This is a good site.

Your guests will most often recall the quality and care and presentation of the bread and desserts. Many people cheat and use commercial products and they don't taste right. These do not have to be expensive.

A new cook should consider a convection oven as it bakes evenly and quickly versus a standard oven.

lol that explains the yellow. you added egg. you don't actually need an egg.

try in future for fast recipe using the neopolitan pizza style

250g high gluten flour/bread flour
150ml water warm
1.8g of fast yeast powder.
1.5tbspoon of olive oil
1tspoon sugar
0.5 tspoon salt.

mix all dry , mix water with yeast until dissolved. add oil to flour and slowly add water while mixing.

will rise in an hour.

It should smooth out CG.

Sticky dough is hard to work with but makes for better bread.

Good Luck!

 Quoting: Jeffersons Blackberry

that is a haunting image. Reminds me of the young girl getting ready to slice the loaf of bread before people are due to come to their homestead - how thick can I slice it?

her father answers, soon she should be able to slice it as thick as she wants...

an early scene in the movie
Once Upon a Time in the West

cosmic, I bake only gluten-free.
Yeast is tricky without the lovely gluten which holds together the architecture of the baking loaf.

So I don't do it too often, will for Easter - the rising of the yeast is symbolic of the meaning of Easter in Eastern Europe traditions.

roll the risen dough flat, cover it with nuts-butter-sugar or apple filling or plum filling or poppy-seed filling.

roll it up so it is a loaf, or turn the ends of the loaf together to make a wreath

bake.

your bread dough looks GREAT. Once you have the recipe down, you can make SO MANY things with it!

I use the redstar rapid rise yeast.. seems better with the heavier doughs using gluten-free flours.

in order to keep yeast, bakers mix a bit of dough and let it heavily ferment and keep it in the fridge . this becomes like your main batch in order to produce more yeast.

don't forget to bleach down everywhere when handling yeast. don't be using any towels that you're not immediately washing. it grows and spreads.

Re: Calling all BREAD BAKERS! Calling all BREAD BAKERS!
I make most all of our bread - and primarily different versions of sourdough. The secret to baking bread is knowing when you have enough flour in it. I mix mine in a KitchenAid mixer and add flour slowly. Once it starts cleaning the edge of the bowl, you have enough flour. I then usually put in on the counter and hand knead it for a little bit just to make sure it isn't too sticky - if it is, I add a little more flour. I never keep track of how much flour goes in anymore, since I know by the feel of it when it has enough.

BTW, I have deviated a lot from the original recipe - and randomly put in a mix of any of the following: stone ground whole wheat, unbleached white, oat flour, soy flour, millet, almond flour, barley flour, chickpea flour, and oatmeal.
