I used to react to this kind of reports but there have been 2 or 3 Manhattan size glacier breaks over the past ten years that I heard about. Guess what none of them caused the water levels to rise. I know this since I live right by the Pacific ocean and have been living here for 31 years and I do not see any rise in sea level. I remember Al Gore said over 20 years ago that we only have 10 years before we would be in trouble. Well here we are more than 20 years later and nothing. For me the climate is still the same. Maybe slightly warmer but fluctuations in the weather is normal. No question glaciers are melting all over the earth but so far the sea level is fairly consistent.

Also remember that if the Ant-Artic glaciers are already in the ocean and not breaking off on land the rise in sea level is zero.

Ice shelves breaking off are not uncommon especially during a warming period.

Well, many have wondered about that phrase but no more. The deepest borehole on earth, 7.6 miles, drilled by the Russians have solved that mystery. There actually is water in the "crust", but much deeper than the known aquifers of the earth. The Russians quit drilling after they hit water in 1989 and sealed it up. The Kola borehole.

They closed it up because their bits kept melting in the extreme heat .

Ice cores show that not to be true. The earth has experience much warmer temps in the past than what we have now, even warmer in the time of man in the Roman and medieval times. That wasn't caused by mans actions. And guess what? We are still here!
That tells me there are other more potent forces that cause "climate change". We simply are not it. You should look to the sun, our orbit and the magnetosphere for answers.

Please forgive if someone has already pointed out that we are currently in a Grand Solar Minimum, there are a few other major cycles hitting and the best any survivors can do is to become migratory like so many other ancient cultures have in the past just to survive.

If you think the Winter storm that hit Texas almost two weeks ago as of this post was bad then you have not been in many or any real Winter storms. In my North Texas town it was just a beautiful Winter storm that was not the least bit terrible as a storm itself. The intense cold though... dang that was brutal. At least that only lasted for a single night.

I've been living here over 30 years and it's not unusual to see 60 degree temps in January followed by Artic air in February. It's back and forth many years during the winter. I know! I've lost many fruiting blossoms because of it!

And despite us having a record blast in the last few weeks I was surprised to learn it was very close to the record of 100 years ago and only a couple of degrees colder than a previous recorded temp about 10 years ago!

You guys have to realize that most of these RECORDS are only a 100 years or so old. Humans keeping "records" of weather is a fairly recent thing.

Heck, there was even a mini ice age less than 300 years ago. Lasted many years, decades in fact. Caused widespread famine across the northern hemisphere and was even responsible for the French revolution some say. You going to sit there and tell me that Humans were responsible for that weather phenom?

I would imagine that is causing much of it. I guess Al Bore will find a reason to blame that on humans also.

If the damn politicians are so worried about global warming or cooling, why don't they QUIT TRYING TO CONQUER IT (because that is impossible) and start trying to ADAPT to live with it. YOU KNOW, contingency planning. Instead of trying to blame us to TAX US, do something useful and start developing new methods to cope. More efficient farming methods and different areas of farmland. Large greenhouses. Time to use the oceans and desalination plants for farming and water sources. More insulated housing. ADAPT because we sure aren't going to STOP climate change.

The "verge" could be 10 years, 100 years or 1000 years. No body knows. It's due, but that doesn't always mean in our lifetime.

I do remember reading that, but they went back years later and drilled again. That's when they reached over 7 miles and hit the water. Then they sealed it.
