They could easily afford to pay a decent wage to their employees. [ link to www.oann.com (secure)] Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) proposed a $15 per hour minimum wage for companies making $1 billion dollars or more. On Friday, Hawley announced the bill as an alternative to Democrats’ across-the-board minimum wage hike.
He said his plan would result in an immediate wage increase for millions of workers while avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach, which would destroy small businesses. Hawley noted wages for blue-collar workers have been stagnant for decades and the situation was made worse by the government shutting down the economy in 2020. |
