The title is inaccurate. As the linked story states nearly 50% of Republicans are willing to leave the GOP for a Trump-led party. The real wildcard is the Independent voter. In the 31 states that gather party affiliation info, the are now more registered Independents than registered Republicans. I believe the time is right to form a 3rd national party, and if Trump is the politician who moves the third party into national prominence, that's OK by me.

Sounds great, divide the republican voters in half. Neither repub candidates will ever get elected.

I originally suspected Donald Trump of being too much of a typical, half-assed, garden-variety, NYC-closeted-liberal Republican, more Mitt Romney/Michael Bloomberg/John McCain than a staunch, principled conservative.

He's still a bit iffy on some of his politics, but who isn't? After all, there's a bit of sleazy liberalism in most humans.

Since 2016, however, and even more so in 2021, he has fully opened my eyes to just how corrupt, conniving and unethical the entire system is. From, of course, liberal hosebags like Obama/Clinton/Biden/Pelosi/Comey-Brennan to RINO scumballs like Mitch McConnell, Romney/Ryan and Mike Pence (certainly if rumors about him are legit).

I'm less partisan today than I've been in the past, meaning "Democrat" certainly is bullshitty to me, but so is the label of "Republican."
