So I keep reading about these 'breakthrough' infections on Twitter....seeing lots of comments about people who were fully jabbed catch it but are fine after antibody treatment.

If the shots worked, they shouldn't need antibody treatment, right????

Won't that put pressure on it to mutate further?

:verydamned:

You are correct. And it’s worse.

Regeron.... the one that was proved to be forcing mutations....

Was just given back EAU status. Nope. I am being serious

u is fine CAT. i been on that boat. long time ago.that swamp is sinking n full of squitoes for sure.

GF n I tried warning family back starting in JAN 2020. was surprised how early i put alerts out. ppl do as they want. MSM and CDC didn't teach anyone but caused chaos and confusion. led to my reverse CT.

surprised the Gf has taken things so well thus far. she realizes we may never see rfamily again way things are going. not easy we accept what we can't do anything about i guess.

at this moment we have 3 types of ppl. those who avoided the virus.

those vaxed
and those who were infected but no vax.

hard to tell 1 from another. so we avoid all as best we can. vaxers may b more spreaders than the infected.or both can b. crystal ball looks darker each month.

2020 The SHTF literally as TP ran out.

we went from being over the target, to actually being the target. too close to the truth.

if i had a dollar for everytime someone says "merge" without using the word, i'd b so green i'd b King of Mars.

The 3 mentioned earlier.
All were mild to moderate symptoms.
All given the same IV as preventative.
They were high risk (due to age).

Also, given what we are told about the R0 I’m surprised more weren’t infected. All of the larger group were using at home kits about every two days. Also possible it wasn’t Delta.

Riff, I'm sorry. I remembered right as I hit post.

I'm an out of work gramma these days. We haven't seen any of them since Christmas, right before this nightmare started. No hugs anywhere these days. Can't even hug my neighbor kids anymore.

It's hard to be a hugger in a world where hugs are outlawed. There's a B sci-fi movie in there somewhere. Maybe a B slasher movie.

Ground Truth Report Indianapolis - J&J Vaccine vs. Delta Variant

Okay, I now have credible and specific evidence of vaccine fade over time, Delta variant breakthrough, or a combination of both.

Our neighbor received the J&J vaccine earlier this year. Don't remember when exactly, but it was prior to April.

Two weeks ago she got infected and diagnosed with the Delta variant of Covid, which she caught from a coworker who had just returned from Florida with a fever and sinus congestion. He was an anti-masker and insisted he just had a sinus infection.

Except he didn't.

Our neighbor has been off work for the past two weeks. Symptoms included headache, fever, and sinus congestion.

This is not theory or hyperbole. Either the vaccine loses its efficacy over time or the Delta variant has achieved some level of breakthrough. It is also possible that both conditions are occurring simultaneously.

I've been holding back on my opinion until I felt sure enough to say something, because I don't like to overreact. But I think it's time to acknowledge that we're going down this road again, and it's going to be worse this time around than it was in 2020.

Raffette and I are reviewing our supplies with the goal of approaching a one-year supply of non-perishables this time, rather than six months in the freezer and six months in the shelter. I'll also be restocking my gasoline supplies earlier than normal this year. I have refitted our P100 respirators with new filters and put them in our vehicles. We're going back to wearing masks in public places, mandate or no mandate.

Make your preparations and begin protecting yourself NOW, people. Seriously. We've barely scraped the surface of the rabbit hole so far.

Stay safe, everyone.
 Quoting: Riff-Raff

UGH! I got my J&J in March! Mrs Spinalcracker has to work with the public, but is masking up at work. She never stopped. Looks like I am back to staying in and away from people for a while.

What do you think about boosters, Riff?
 Quoting: SpinalCracker

Boosters are going to have to be a fact of life for the next few years, I'm afraid, and that's assuming they can adjust the vaccines to new variants as quickly as the new variants come out. We were warned about this last year, so I am honestly not surprised in the least.

Over half the deer tested in Michigan have been exposed to SARS-CoV-2

On Wednesday, the US Department of Agriculture released some rather disturbing news: a survey of wild deer populations has found that large numbers of the animals seem to have been exposed to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The finding indicates that there's a very large population of wild animals in North America that could serve as a reservoir for the virus, even if we were to get its circulation within the human population under control.

[link to arstechnica.com (secure)]
 Quoting: Guythu

as RW pointed out the other day, how are the deer being infected? it is quite odd that it is so widespread in just 1 year. deer do not travel, and mingle as mush as humans. ain't driving around.

i'd like to see more spec's from the report. did they do 1 area and assume for the whole state? i doubt that but sill would like to see the info. couldn't find any the other day.

other than the hikers at state parks, ppl aren't out in the woods as much as before either. video games keep kids entertained instead. not many deer walk up and hug ppl either. for it to b so wide spread, it must b in more wildlife as well. racoons, skunks, feral cats, coyotes. so did it jump from garbage to wild dogs than to the deer? or from cats?

this does hint at some intel from UD way back.
 Quoting: JAZZz50

Short answer: They don't know. But they suspect it's a domestic animal that is transferring the virus to deer, not humans. Their samples were from multiple states. Illinois deer only tested 7% positive in their sample. Michigan deer - 60%.

Outdoor cats? From the fleas, like plague?

SO FAR, there has been zero evidence to indicate SC2 is transmissible by insects. But with each new variant, who knows? HIV was never transmitted by insects, and we know SC2 contains HIV proteins, so hopefully that never becomes a thing.

The key data point is to find out how long ago each "breakthrough" patient received their vaccination. If each case is four to six months or more since vaccination, then we're looking at antibody fading, not actual vaccine breakthrough. If we start seeing people who have been fully vaccinated for less than 90 days becoming infected on a regular basis, then vaccine breakthrough starts to become more likely, and is a far, far worse situation.

Remember that we knew antibodies generated by an infection faded after about six months last summer. There's no reason that antibodies generated by a vaccine wouldn't do the same.

You're the best. It'll be 2 years this Christmas since I've seen any of the kids. That's the longest we've gone without seeing them. Thing is, it's not like when Mr. TB was still active duty and we couldn't come home. None of us has any reason for this BUT the virus. We keep making plans and they always fall through.

I'll get through this. I'm not the only one in the world with this problem. It just gets a little heavy sometimes.

Of course!

I am walling off as much as possible because my circles have unmasked, traveling, and large extremely mixed get togethers.

And given that my first priority is to little man, I can’t do anything physical to help.

I truly wish we had a better path. But the state fair and school starts soon. And our governor is anti mask. This will be soooo much fun! /s/

Hey, TB! Sorry you are having a rough time lately. It's okay....you're not a robot, nor should you try to be. You rant whenever you need to. We got your back. :)

Things are good here. Only 84 degrees today, which is cool for August! I saw your and Jazz's discussion about the weather. In garden news, I have been successfully growing sprouts, lettuce, and jalapeño peppers, as well as a ton of herbs in my hydroponic gardens. A new hobby that I am addicted to. It's not a huge bounty, but it's fun to learn and lettuce grows fast! It also grows several times after you cut it, which is amazing.

Congratulations on your bucket gardens, by the way!

We are still wearing masks and social distancing. My husband might have to travel out of the country this month, which of course worries me now that they are not requiring Covid tests for flights. How these countries can pretend the green pass system is working is yet another fail in this whole disaster. :(

It's all good, SN. It's partially cabin fever, too.

Congrats on your hydroponics too. When we were still living out in the cotton field, I was almost ready to build a system with fish. I gave up on it for several reasons, but the killer for me was I couldn't get yellow perch. I don't like a lot of fish and can't stand tilapia.

I'm not going to get enough produce to do much with, but I expected that. Mostly, I wanted tomatoes that tasted like tomatoes. I wish I'd gotten a couple of Beefsteak or Big Boys, though. I got Early Bush because I've grown them in Texas and they're easy to grow. The heirlooms I tried 2 years ago didn't do well at all.

The biggest reason I met with my brother the other day was I realized it may be the last time I see him and my sil. When they started running down the list of everyone we know that has had massive health issues or have died, it kind of set me down a bad track. I realize they're all 5 or more years older than I am, but I knew most of them years ago because of my brother.
