And while doctors and PSA’s are pushing for it.... no. Not happening. Considering that 50% of most sampled populations are a thrombosis risk (even if superficial).... Iowa’s vaccinated numbers are extremely high. 43 Iowa counties decline weekly COVID-19 vaccine allocation There are 99 counties. Less than 50% Low turnout at clinics is leaving health departments with hundreds of vials of unused doses. While they can just store them for later use, they're deciding to accept fewer doses and let more vaccines go to larger communities that need them most. [link to www.kcci.com (secure)] |

I have an update to that: Since then, they were talking about the blot clot thing, and I have to board an aircraft next month and got paranoid. So, I called my doc and got some blood work done. Turns out my platelets are fine, but my Vit D totally TANKED over Winter!!! I get really bad bone pain etc when that happens. When I got my shot, my numbers must have been right on the edge as I had TERRIBLE bone pain throughout my entire skeleton. Mind you I take supplements daily as this has been an issue loooooooong before covid. So, I am going to chalk up the really bad, painful reaction I had to my vitamins being screwed up. I would advise anyone getting vaccinated to get your blood levels checked first, and maybe supplement before getting your shot. -SC- (been just lurking around for a while, spring chores, you know) A whole new level of fuckery |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80220497 04/20/2021 04:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78221722 Thanks for proving my point. For instance, one study of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine—the distribution of which U.S. officials have temporarily paused—found it was 85% effective at preventing severe Covid-19 from the B.1.351 variant, which was first discovered in South Africa. Similarly, a small study of Pfizer/BioNTech's vaccine found it was up to 100% effective at preventing even mild cases from the B.1.351 variant. I see you conveniently stopped reading: "However, Abdool Karim expressed more concern about the efficacy of AstraZeneca's vaccine, which has not been authorized in the United States, against certain variants. One very small study suggested that that vaccine was almost entirely ineffective at preventing mild cases of Covid-19 against B.1.351, and a separate experiment found that it takes 86 times as many antibodies from the AstraZeneca vaccine to neutralize B.1.351 as it does to neutralize the original strain of the virus. Bro, do you even read? The old people got it in that care home and had ZERO deaths. Derp! Getting zero deaths in one case study is a excellent result but it's far from a victory. The degree of uncertainty we are still dealing with is to be expected given the clusterf*ck of a response we have had in general, but the main questions of importance now defy simple anecdotal statistics: A) Does the immunity hold? For how long? Does it stop spread? B) Is the level of immunity consistent or are there those more susceptible whom's protection is dependent on sufficient isolation from the primary pathogen. C) Are we likely to see further mutations that might overcome the positive effects of the vaccine's. A and B will require more time and a larger population observation. Anecdotal evidence is totally irrelevant and might make moving towards what some like call "Normal" living challenging. If we suddenly extend contacts between different groups this might cause surprises but considering Florida I think we'll be fine. C is the bigger worry. If we look at trends currently places with pervasive vaccine programs are trending down, but the virus is still around and given current trends in Brazil and India new strains will continue to develop. If we allow those to transfer we create the possibility of introducing a new resistant mutation. The best strategy has and still is aiming for 0 cases and trying to sustain that. Had we been diligent and focused on that task we would have been done ~June 2020, ~April 2020 if China had been more transparent and we could all agree a new more deadly cold virus would be a bad thing to have in the wild. |
