And my brother said "it's supposed to snow 100 miles out into the Gulf," and I said "No way," since it had never done that before in anybody's lifetime that we know or had known. Weather Modification + DOE Wattage Output Slash = Another Attack in the ongoing WWIII.

No.

Snow covered the balcony of our beach houses in Galveston.

Only one burst water pipe, thankfully.

Others fared far worse, but I opened the cabinets, dripped the faucets and cranked the heat to 70 (we did not lose electricity, as we are on the same grid as UTMB -- med center)in both units when we left.

Dallas is much further north than Galveston, is an interior climate == more extreme. About a 6 hour drive north. Some people don't realize just how gig Texas really is.

This wasnt a "polar vortex", the jets streams were pushed south globally at the same time in the northern hemisphere.

This was nothing compared to 87. The Red River and Caddo lake froze over for the first time ever. It was well below freezing for two weeks straight with snow and below zero temperatures. This weather is unusual for Texas but not unheard of. Most places did reach record lows. we got down to -4F and missed it by 15 degrees.

For the date or all time lows?

We beat the record lows for the date but not all time.

It was much worst here in 1987 and we never lost power or gas.

Thats what convinces me it was engineered either by stupidity or intent, the things that supposedly went tits up because of the cold were not affected then, the only difference is we didnt have 15 percent of our electricity coming from wind farms.

IMO there was no need for wind turbines to be effected where they were.

Unsure, but I think it was for the date. The news just said we set a record low.

I think the entire wind turbine and solar panel think is silly. Considering we burn off enormous amounts of natural gas as a nuisance, we should be using NG for most electrical generation for Texas. That said, if someone chooses to purchase from a turbine, or solar panel company, that is their right, and I won't stand in their way.

Show me a picture of frozen palm trees from 1998. What makes this special is how far south it happened, not what happened.

1967 Mexico City has so much snow it killed people. They didn't have that much snow in 26 years. So 1941 was a dozey too.
 Quoting: Oldcrow64

Sure it's happened in the past ... but with the internet people SCREAM "The Sky Is Falling" every time a once in 30 year, or even once in 10 year, event happens.

I have news for everybody ... it IS going to happen again too!! Shocking I know.

When a High Pressure area sets in over the North Pole area, which is unusual but does happen every now and then, it FORCES the cold air jetstream SOUTH. Sometimes it get shoved south over Russia. Sometimes it goes SOUTH over Northern Europe, sometimes it goes SOUTH over Alaska. This time it went SOUTH exactly where it would shove that jetstream way SOUTH so it bring the polar cold air to right over Texas. NOTE ... during the entire Texas freeze Arizona was just fine wrt the super cold air. Normal winter temps there the entire time ... precisely because they were NOT directly in the path of that shove on the jetstream.

Normal weather behavior ... Texas just happened to be unlucky this year in that it happened to be in the path of that high pressure event in the artic that happens every now and then, versus somewhere in Russia, ... and it WILL happen again, though it may be another 30 years (though it could happen again within 5 years).

Hopefully all the kids got to build a snowman, and their parents thought to take pictures. Those kids will remember this event for the rest of their lives, and talk about it too.
