This is excellent news. Everybody living the extravagant CERB dream now has 12 more weeks to try to make it as a career Twitch streamer. Meanwhile the truly vulnerable citizens living off of paltry pensions continue to get nothing to very little in additional support by comparison.

I'm not complaining on behalf of the disabled and meager pensioners. I'm juxtaposing their predicament against the asinine absurdity of healthy young adults collecting money to masturbate all day.

An unintended consequence of this is our bloated government bureaucracies will continue to operate at molasses pace because 4/5 government office workers are women and their fairness radar (fairdar) is indicating to them that they must protest the inequitableness of the situation by working as slowly and passive-aggressively as possible.

People will also be less likely to get out of the welfare system as well for similar reasons. This bottlenecks everything.

I suppose I should add that our governments (provincial and federal) continue to demonstrate that they're on a mission to crush a significant section of the small business economy while relentlessly harassing and stressing out the poorest and most vulnerable. So, it's not like the political will exists to do anything other than continue to destroy society anyway.

I'm on disability and can clear $500 a month with no penalty. I've been working on a transcription gig for a couple of years now and am now proficient and well-positioned enough to make a run at near total self-sufficiency (minus the bit of health coverage, plus I think I'm still guaranteed like $200/month no matter what).

It's a tough gig with stiff penalties for submitting subpar work. It is difficult piecework and very mentally draining. The expectation from society is that I give'r as soon as I'm capable. Meanwhile everyone and their bestie on extended CERB are shunning all of the Petro Canada jobs under the pretense that they'd be stupid to do that when they don't have to.

I'm getting more than a little sick of the double standards.

Most people are spending it on PS5s, legal weed, booze & RV dealers say they are selling like crazy

Could instead invest in gold, silver, crypto, pay off student loans or credit cards, but at this point why bother as the free money just ends back in their hands?

Hardly ever post (but am still very much an avid reader!) and I stay in PM to chat with a circle of friends and to the man I love. So yeah, I'm pretty lazy now, lol

CERB and CRB is not the same thing.

CERB was rolled into EI back last September. Its not changing.

They’re created as debt and that debt will have to be absorbed by growth or inflation. It’s a pyramid-scheme.

This free money should be scary to all Canadians.

Why? The CCP has moved into Canada and are slipping the funds to the Canadian government.

Why does this matter? When the time comes the CCP will call the loan and over night the Chinese have conquered the upper American Continent, priming a U.S. invasion. The CCP will add to their already massive mineral reserve (Like they have done with Australia).

Not slow. yes, they have gotten the U.S. but phase two for the U.S. is coming. They needed to do phase one to complete phase two on the U.S. . I think you are slow.

I'm on the CRB, and was on the CERB, and I'm glad it's extended more, as I am exactly the sort of worker it is meant for, being employed by a tourism dependent operation - and we won't be having a season this year either :/

It's not actually crazy if you think about it - the money I am getting is going right back out into the local economy, through the usual cost of living, keeping the businesses operating, enabling them to employ people, and thereby rolling the great wheel of society. This is something both Left and Right politics has a system for, though people rarely talk about the Right, because it requires the rich to be "good guys" of their own choice.
