How could Texans know this information is there was no power in the first place. Please GOD let this blow up in their FACE! Quoting: Cebeij (i) with respect to any Specified Resource that is an ERCOT Generation Resource or Settlement Only Generator whose operator notifies ERCOT that the unit is unable, or expected to be unable, to produce at its maximum output due to an emission or effluent limit in any federal environmental permit, ERCOT shall ensure that such Specified Resource is only allowed to exceed any such limit during a period for which ERCOT has declared an Energy Emergency Alert (EEA) Level 2 or Level 3. This incremental amount of restricted capacity would be offered at a price no lower than $1,500/MWh. Once ERCOT declares that such an EEA Level 2 or Level 3 event has ended, the unit is required to immediately return to operation within its permitted limits; and (ii) with respect to any Specified Resource that is an ERCOT Generation Resource whose operator notifies ERCOT that the unit is offline or would need to go offline due to an emission or effluent limit in any federal environmental permit, and to which ERCOT has issued a Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC) instruction, the operator may make all of the unit’s capacity available to ERCOT for dispatch during a period for which ERCOT has declared an EEA Level 2 or Level 3. This incremental amount of restricted capacity would be offered at a price no lower than $1,500/MWh. Once ERCOT declares that such an EEA Level 2 or Level 3 event has ended, the unit is required to immediately return to operating at a level below the higher of its minimum operating level or the maximum output allowable under the permitted limit Our DOJ and all seventeen agencies are corrupt. Quoting: Rainbow7 Texas should ignore and push the price of Electricity Mega low by over producing. They can't produce enough for themselves einstein. Obviously you did not read the document. They won't let them produce more than 20% of the lowest minimum. They were throttled, by the DOE for environmental reasons. 'Green New Deal' strike a chord. Sounds like an Administration agenda to me. The Left loves using government agencies to carry out their punishment for opposing or questioning their power. Like the irs... |

How about a big ole Texas Go Fuck Yourself? Quoting: FlashBuzzkill There are currently no federal CO2 emission limits that would effect this situation. They need every megawatt they can get, the few plants that are operational can get another 2% or 5% more output by exceeding their emission limits that's what this is about. |

Literally have to ask permission to use more energy and get approval from DoE. Spooks got caught red handed. Now what? Quoting: Cebeij They would not need to exceed emission limits if the gas wells didn't freeze up shutting down a bunch of plants requiring what generation is left to run balls to the wall. Every power plant in the country has emission limits and things worked just fine for the past 51 years since the first iteration of the clean air act. It's really simple... engineers didn't think it would get this cold for this long, and they were wrong. It happens from time to time. A month ago if your power company said they needed to raise your rates by 20% to freezeproof everything you would have made angry threads about that. That's not nearly the whole story you douchenozzle |

These homes need to be designed with split HVACs, with one on a backup generator so when this happens, winter or summer, a family can all pile into one room and still fucntion. All new luxery homes should also have the newest solar tech wrapped into the price. I was so gratefull to have a ranch home as well, fewer issues all around, so much easiler to maintain. After this event second floor bathrooms and kitchens or wet bars won't be so appealing unless they are fully built to withstand extreme situations. The way some of those homes are designed was really stupid, no regard at all for extreme weather events. They do better in Oklahoma where new subdivisions, even out in rural areas are now all buried cables, and many people have fully equipped bug out shelters. |

If it’s what I’m hearing, will be contacting an attorney! Were you notified by anything that your bill would skyrocket? That if you use the power it would be $1,500/MWh. Comes out to $1.50 per Kilowatt hour. That's like 15 times higher than your average bill. Sickening! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9616692 United States 02/19/2021 05:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Feds not going to like it much when we tell them to fk off. Quoting: ChIcKeN_NoOdlE Texas energy is not under federal control. The state reserves that right for texas under the constitution. THAT is how Texas got into this problem to begin with. Texans CHOSE to NOT design their power plants and grid to the National Standards that in EVERY OTHER STATE they are designed to. In 2011 there was another Cold Weather Event in Texas and 3.5 million Texans lost their power because the Texas Grid could not cope with the cold weather. The FERC came in, reviewed what happened, and recommended that Texas upgrade their system to WHAT EVERY OTHER SYSTEM followed (yep including warm Florida). Unlike elsewhere the FERC could NOT mandate those changes, only recommend them. Texas being run by Texans said FUCK OFF ... and wouldn't and didn't ... so it was only a matter of TIME, NOT "IF" the Texas Grid would FAIL AGAIN! due to mother nature doing what mother nature what it does every now and then, get cold (2011, 1989, plus many other times in Texas's past) WHO made money by Texans ignoring the standards that every other state had to follow? The BIG MONEY people in Texas. Who got hurt? The average Joe many of whom now face large both large repair bills but also for some extremely high electric bills. Here is the FERC report and recommendations after the 2011 Texas Grid Collaps caused by cold weather: ---------------------------------------- Report on Outages and Curtailments During the Southwest Cold Weather Event of February 1-5, 2011 [link to www.ferc.gov (secure)] Umm... |

Saw a lot of this toward the end of Trumps term. I feel like a lot of you actually believe your fellow citizens are gonna band together and fight for whats right. Look around you. Any of your neighbors making moves? Didn’t think so. Don’t get mad at me. Just pointing out that you should take another look at your fellow citizens and realize we aint standing up for nothing! 3 people can keep a secret. If 2 of them are dead. |

Do you think they would have if they would have known that there is an emissions cap on producing energy under force majeure. The state can manage without income tax levied on it's citizens.
