My daughter stocked some extra food when this Covid crap first started. I've been telling her for years. OF course, she waited until the media told her to. I so wanted to say, "I TOLD YOU!!"

Snow is filthy. I had my water cut off once and filled a clean empty garbage can with it and brought it in the house to melt. I wanted to use it for bath water. I boiled it and it had black specks all through it.

I am on well water. I have a stream and a lake walking distance and we are rural, so I only keep 5-10 gallons around. If I think weather is coming I'll fill more. But we also have tesla walls and are good for a few days.

This has sure been an eye-opener. I am so sorry for what the people in TX are going through and I wish people would stop being class-A douchebags and show some compassion.

All I feel is sorry I can't do something to help.

We keep a filtered pitcher cold in normal times.

I dont trust the filters with a possible bacteria present.

I'd boil it if I had to use it just to be safe.

I go to Colorado annually and the snow I've seen there is different than what I just saw here. The snow was watery and it had little bead looking thing in it like that floam stuff you buy for kids

We lost power for 3+ days. Third day, water went out. Drove 3 hours to where LJS lives. Staying at hotel until weekend.

Thoughts on water crisis? Will this subside in next few days, or continue to worsen?

It always feels like things are on the verge of being 'worst-case' situation, but never quite get there.

I got enough for about 5 months. 1550 gallon stock tank. That's just in case if we lose power and/or the well pump goes out. Plus another 30 gallons in buckets and collapsible Coleman water carriers. Don't forget about the bathtubs and washing machine that could be filled up with water...

I’m in the San Antonio area. I feel blessed that we have had gas & electric throughout this whole ordeal. We have also had water the whole time but our water pressure dropped significantly for about 2 days. Also, we had the kitchen hot water line freeze up for 3 days, but no busted pipes. I fear we are in the minority though. We have had heat in our house the whole time, but the downstairs struggled to maintain heat because the temps outside were so low. Today, we were hit with a large amount of snowfall for the second time & my husband hasn’t been able to work in almost a week.

We are under a boil water order, but we have a reverse osmosis filter with UV light, so not effected by this issue too much.


Things are really bad. We went to the grocery store tonight & most every shelf was completely bare. Only a few snack foods were left. It looked as though the store had just been constructed & was ready to be stocked. This is a very large chain store. Every store around here looks similar & they aren’t sure when trucks will arrive with more product. Please pray for my fellow Texans.

Talked with my sister in Austin, they are boiling water, Berkey filter failed for some reason, bought "flavored water" at Target, regular water was one per customer, flavored water was unlimited. Gave advise on prepping, not judgmental, Austin is liberal, told her she lives in a state with Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Wind, Hail, Heat, Floods, etc., bottom line if any state should be ready for weather it should have been Texas

I can’t believe so many people drink tap water. There is no other reason to boil it except for brushing teeth if you think you might accidentally swallow it.

We haven’t drank city water from the tap in decades.
