It's what all neighbors should be doing for each other. It's not about political affiliation, it's about humans helping other humans. Quoting: justanothergranny I may like the humanitarian gesture, but I don't like O'Rourk's other political beliefs, particularly about gun ownership. I don't like Cruz much either. I usually have 5 cases in garage. I will double that at least. Quoting: Joeylamb Howdy neighbor! Yes we have cases of bottles and gallons ready to go. So glad we planned ahead. Survival in summer trap it under a vapour barrier it is evaporated like dew. Also frozen helps more. Better than well water or tap water but yes might have issues...choose! Shit that's why I stocked a shit ton of fresh water man. Gotta plan ahead. Not looking so goddamned crazy to my family now. Lol. So glad you were ready! My kids think I'm nuts for stocking water. The maintenance man came to repair my dishwasher & asked me why I had gallons of water under the sink. I simply said, "In case the water gets shut off." He looked at me like I was out there! Oh good lord I know, I've been telling my family things for years and stocking up, go bags and survival stuff. Most of them thought I was batshit nuts but now a lot of what I told them is happening and I'm getting calls for advice. Lol. Not so crazy now, it would seem. My daughter stocked some extra food when this Covid crap first started. I've been telling her for years. OF course, she waited until the media told her to. I so wanted to say, "I TOLD YOU!!" Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78077376 Nice and clean...scoop and warm it and drink away. Worst case you can't or don't have the heat to make it liquid again They tested the snow and found some shit in it I heard. Who knows. Snow is filthy. I had my water cut off once and filled a clean empty garbage can with it and brought it in the house to melt. I wanted to use it for bath water. I boiled it and it had black specks all through it. |

Should probably have more than that. Quoting: ~Sloane~ I am on well water. I have a stream and a lake walking distance and we are rural, so I only keep 5-10 gallons around. If I think weather is coming I'll fill more. But we also have tesla walls and are good for a few days. This has sure been an eye-opener. I am so sorry for what the people in TX are going through and I wish people would stop being class-A douchebags and show some compassion. All I feel is sorry I can't do something to help. ~~*NOT* a very nice kitty!~~ "Plan for the worst, hope for the best, and don't live in fear." |

We have filters but I dont trust them. I planned for this. So you pay for water filtration that you don't even have any faith in? What's the point? |

Drove 3 hours to where LJS lives. Staying at hotel until weekend. Thoughts on water crisis? Will this subside in next few days, or continue to worsen? It always feels like things are on the verge of being 'worst-case' situation, but never quite get there. |

User ID: 79363818 United States 02/19/2021 12:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’m in the San Antonio area. I feel blessed that we have had gas & electric throughout this whole ordeal. We have also had water the whole time but our water pressure dropped significantly for about 2 days. Also, we had the kitchen hot water line freeze up for 3 days, but no busted pipes. I fear we are in the minority though. We have had heat in our house the whole time, but the downstairs struggled to maintain heat because the temps outside were so low. Today, we were hit with a large amount of snowfall for the second time & my husband hasn’t been able to work in almost a week. We are under a boil water order, but we have a reverse osmosis filter with UV light, so not effected by this issue too much. Things are really bad. We went to the grocery store tonight & most every shelf was completely bare. Only a few snack foods were left. It looked as though the store had just been constructed & was ready to be stocked. This is a very large chain store. Every store around here looks similar & they aren’t sure when trucks will arrive with more product. Please pray for my fellow Texans.
