The letter read (I paraphrase) "Surrender unconditionally or all inside shall face the sword." Colonel Travis answered the demand with a single cannon shot. I'd say he handled it just fine. I don't know any true fellow Texan, that doesn't live up to that courage and bravery. |

Somewhere between 600 and 1,600 Mexican soldiers were killed. And shortly thereafter Sam Houston and his forces defeated a Mexican force twice their size. In the face of being outnumbered by 9-30 to 1, they fought incredibly well and honorably. [link to www.history.com (secure)] I am Billy Ringo and I approve of this message. It might not be what I would have done, but 186 MEN, some WOMEN & children, and at least One Black Slave, did ! FOR YOUR COMMENT ! It means very little, but does put your character and knowledge into question. |

Quoting: TheGasMan II We are almost out of the woods. We will survive, most of us anyway. If you were Canadian, the weather wouldn't bother ya... Just another breezy day is all... I have been out in this all week delivering propane to people who are out. When I wasn't doing that, I was at the office filling propane bottles/cylinders for people who were in desperate need due to no power or water. We sold 5,000 gallons over the last 3 days on bottle sales alone. Tuesday we had a line of cars over a mile long waiting to get bottles filled. Quoting: Billy Ringo "Screw you, we're from Texas." ~Ray Wylie Hubbard "What you northerners never appreciate ... is that Texas is so big that you can live your life within its limits and never give a damn about what anyone in Boston or San Francisco thinks." ~James Michener "Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may." ~Sam Houston Good meme for that quote. Anonymous Coward User ID: 80034002 United States 02/18/2021 09:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With the above said, my heart breaks at all the liberal turds flooding the state. I know it well... we're about to put my father-in-laws 5 acres that are 45 mins outside Austin up for sale. We've lived in the MO Ozarks for over a decade... choosing to live here because of strong family values here, lower prices for acreage, lower cost of living (even after you factor in personal property tax), stronger gun rights (no need for CCP and more), and lots of other benefits. Texas needs to catch up on some of this. Another reason we moved is because of all the Hispanic gang activity going on where we lived in Spring/Tomball area. We had him in martial arts because it was so bad. However, when you get jumped by multiple opponents sneaking up on you from behind at the lockers... its hard a situation to defend oneself, and the school system was ineffective at best. I'm not sure if we'll ever relocate back to Texas, but I'm still Texan at heart. |

I also give a nod to those that came from neighboring states and foreign lands for the fight at the Alamo. The boys from Tennessee shall live on forever in memory and hearts. and a big middle finger to Santa Anna the Coward... who had a Napoleon complex, was found cowering under a bridge in civilian clothes after the Battle of San Jacinto, and who burned all Texas defenders at the Alamo on large funeral pyres as a sign of disrespect... all save one, One of Santa Anna's soldiers was allowed to carry off his Tejano brother that fought at the Alamo as a defender. He was carried off for burial, while the rest were desecrated. |
