Re: Is freezing a bad way to go?
When I was researching the least painful ways to commit suicide I found that drowning and breathing pure nitrogen was the best way to go.

I did not read that freezing to death would be pleasant. I assume when you are exhausted already it would be easier but I would not like to experience that as having my hands and face freezing cold hurt like hell.

That's what I think!! You'd have to be totally, passing out in the back yard plastered.

Very good point, plastered!

Since alcohol is a vasodilator, it causes the blood vessels just below your skin's surface to dilate, creating a false sensation of warmth, stealing heat from your vital organs and decreasing your overall core temperature.

This effect is exacerbated when the body is exposed to cold temperatures.

So if you truly want to freeze to death make sure you get plastered. You will be numb from both the alcohol and cold; dying faster as well.

Not if your drunk . If I knew I was freezing to death and had no where to go for refuge . Id chug a few bottles and walk off into the night in shorts and flip flops only .

Many drunks go that way in the winter. Stumble fuck off into the night after the bar or a party . Youd most likely be too shitfaced to really understand whats habbening .

Between the booze and the 9 degrees youd just tire out and dehydrate and pass out in the snow and never wake up

Re: Is freezing a bad way to go?
We had a poor installation on a furnace combined with a faulty CO detector and nearly died. My daughter and I were waking up with pretty severe headaches, like the kind of migraines that hurt so bad you think you're going to puke. I had trouble rousing her and we had the typical rosy cheeks/red lips that accompany CO poisoning. After the 3rd day of waking up with these headaches I decided to replace the CO detector and it went off in the middle of the night. The fire dept came detected very high CO, aired the house and shut off the furnace. Told me I had to get a repairman in the next day.
We thankfully have a woodstove for backup and used that.
If you didn't wake up..CO wouldn't be too bad but if your alarm clock wakes you up, the headaches are BAD, but hey..at least you're not dead.

I haven't frozen 'to death' but I have spent much time outdoors in the cold and sometimes it is very painful. Wet feet, frostbitten fingers, nose hairs sticking together, ice on your eyelashes...none of that is comfortable. Falling into very very cold water seems to only hurt for a shocking second and then make you numb..but slowly freezing to death because you don't have proper clothing or access to a heat source seems as if it would be pretty miserable to me.

You aren't going to freeze to death in 20 degree weather unless you are old or a child or just plain stupid.

Incorrect, people die of exposure all the time, first lesson we were taught in survival school. Get caught out in the woods with hiking shorts and a tee shirt and you probably wont survive the night if temps are low 40's unless you are in super good shape.

I can't help but think of it! The stories and even one of our own, Lord of Pain posting and then portraying signs of hypothermia and going dark. I am disturbed!!! I've heard there's over 30 deaths so far.

I just escaped this and I'm so thankful.
We were out 6 days in 2015 I think it was. It was fun because I was prepped. But this is far more intense. Much more deadly.

What happens when you freeze to death? I read a post, someone said it was peaceful. confuse

God bless everyone in this situation. I'm not a hater. I'm praying for you!!

Bless all y'all that are praying and putting out the positive vibes. It's true goodness.

On any given day, just “going” is probably a bad way to go.

I have heard that freezing to death is one of the best ways to go. At first you are cold then you feel warm and cozy. You just go to sleep.

Had a book on deaths in Yellowstone over the years. Some pretty gruesome falling in hot pool episodes for a later time, but the part on freezing to death there was quite a lot, some recorded as far back as the cavalry. A lot of them recorded the frozen bodies a hundred yards away from where they took off their cloths. They figure there must be some pretty heavy delusion going on at that point. I imagine that it hurts like hell and very excruciating up to the point you hallucinate that your in the desert.

Drowning is terrifying.
That's hogwash.
Youre fully conscious and choking to death.
You'll pass out then, but not pleasant at all.

Freezing to death has got to be somewhat close to burning to death.

Yeah, drowning... being eaten by sharks could only come close... I'm just so scared of being eaten by a shark. It's my greatest fear and someone did a reading and told me that's how I was going to die! lol I don't believe it... I planned long ago to stay off the ocean..chuckle
