My smokers cough scares the shit out of people.

Most people are more scared of giving it to grandma than getting it themselves. Don't be one of those asses who goes around scaring people by openly coughing at them.

I'm guessing it has to do with the slime coat in smokers' lungs. this is probably true for all smoking, and I'll bet the number of stealth weed smokers around explains a lot.

My dad worked in a glass factory and got checked every year for silicosis ... Every year his lungs were clear and younger guys had damage. He credited the smoking.

I'm not saying it's good - he dropped dead of a heart attack work aged 62, clear lungs notwithstanding.

No one I know who currently smokes has been hospitalized. I've known about 20 or 30 people who caught it, 5 who were hospitalized and 2 died.

Even my older relatives. I have a few in their 70s still smoking, but my non-smoking aunt was in the hospital.

The non-smokers who had to go in the hospital were all quite chubby. It's hard to find an old, fat smoker. I'm not sure such a creature exists.

It's easy to tell a smoker's cough. It's always the same. It's not at all like a sick cough.

You're right. There have been studies saying that since last spring.

But it's becoming a folk remedy. To me, that's the interesting part.

I remember a year ago when this C19 hit and people were saying smokers had some kind of protection.
The tar in cigarettes and in pot line the lungs.
The C19 really wants to settle in our lungs but somehow the tar keeps it at bay.
That’s my take, and I haven’t got c19 and I smoke both.

My mom got cancer after she quit smoking.

I'm way past that. I cough up phlegm for two hours straight when I wake up. Then it's a little more bearable. I'm not going to blame anyone for it but myself. I just think it's funny people freak out about it now.

I smoke very judiciously. I'm one of those people who always wants to quit. I smoke no more than 5 a day. Usually - 3 or 4 ... but I smoke American Spirits that can be put out or they just die and you can relight them. So, I usually smoke a half a cig, 6-10 times a day.

I started this way in the 90s ... after smoking unabashed for a few years. I've been on the gum for months at a time, then I start again.

I feel like I smoke VERY LITTLE. But I still smoke daily. As much as I'd like that to not be true, it is.

If I was a microorganism, I'd find better lungs to inhabit than mine.

Way back doctors promoted smoking for good health, perhaps they had today in mind and a crystal ball for the future.

Those who directed the pandemic also knew this. Their plan is older than 5 years old.

Lung cancer isnt good. The crackling sound sounds like a supposed covid patient. This were my Mum a couple nights ago but it took her quick. She had the strength to say hello. Tony, with a wave. Last thing she said to me. Everyone was saying she might pull through to feel better. I went outide to smoke. Then kind of aunty rushed out to say shes going. Got back and she were gone. Minutes. So I wondered why I missed it ( although I might have got worse anxiety )

But there were a track in cd player of car. Didnt know she liked her. Throughout week I kept wondering why radio station kept playing same song but it were a cd. Amy Winehouse

Well..it is mainly because of various lawsuits..but yeah..for sure it is not because they care about people's health.
But smoking just like consuming anything else..depends what you eat or smoke.
Rubbish or quality stuff.
