You can also take tests from fish and grind them up and blend them then add reactive material that makes any radioactive nucleoids change color in some wavelengths that can be seen in a electron microscope, its a normalised method and very effective, im sure if any of the environmental faculties saw a big increase in radioactive fish they would raise alarm.
