I appreciate the video because with all the recent snow we’ve been getting (and now with icy cold temps and winds) it’s become routine for me to anticipate a call or posting from the superintendent to announce either a 2 hour delay or a cancellation.

As expected, less than an hour ago we received a call there is a 2 hour delay, so my wife and I are having coffee and discussing which one of us is taking our daughter to school later this morning.

I think I’ll pass this video along to our local Sup.

No problem, I bet your school Sup will like it. I've watched it five times, they did really well making this yesterday in case it would be needed today and it was!

All gov offices in Richmond are closed but as my office is at home I take that to mean I'm still open.

I just have a beer on the table beside me instead of coffee today. And my Teams and Skype say "I'm working, buried under snow, if I don't hear my laptop call my phone."

At first thought ahh this is nice then I remembered they put 10x the effort into this than they do educating the kids. Not the teachers really but rather the board of education. Kinda killed the good vibes from this.

Chesterfield here. Getting ready to head into work, good thing I have practiced the electric slide leaving all the local bars for so many years. I think all that training will finally pay off.

Like OP, I’m a classic rock guy.

Like you, I cannot stand hip hop or rap.

However, as a Dad, I have to accept that rap is popular among high schoolers, and so I listen to it while teaching my daughter to drive so we can connect and make the experience enjoyable for her, not tense.

In exchange, she has come to really like a lot of my music and has downloaded quite a bit of it.

I commend Andy Jenks for producing this video. It’s a smart move. Students will love him for it, and that will go a long way to inspiring them to follow his leadership.

It's time someone had the courage to say somethng about Hip Hop culture and what it's been doing to decimate the community at large for 40 years now. This isn't helping, by conditioning every dam thing in their life with Rap, Hip Hop, and "Street" Inflections.

If you need hip hop to "connect" with your child , she is already not your child but a child of the state.

It's part of why Blacks stay uneducated and resent "white culture" because they haven't been exsposed to Classical art and History enough, so they value this crap and Cardi B.

Enough. I was around the original Hip Hop in NYC in the early 1980s, that was bad enough, it distracted me and my life, before it got seriously worse by 1989 and co-opted by gangs and the record labels into gangsta rap. Tipper Gore tried to warn society about this way back then, of course she was called a racist bitch.

It's a good thing I woke up to it by 1994 and only threw most but not all of my entire life away around that crap. All popular music is poison to keep you from realizing your potential, ALL of it!

It's weaponized culture. Now Breakdancing is in the Olympics. That's just great. Good luck parents!

I completely agree.

Fortunately, my daughter has a strong interest in metaphysics, consciousness, dimensional shifts, etc., so that is our connection. You’re not a parent, so you don’t understand how challenging it can be for a father to connect with a 16 year old teenage girl.

Thankfully, she listens to a broad selection of music, so my time spent listening to hip hop in the car with her is limited to 1 or 2 songs. I’ve made the mistake of just shutting it down and asserting my opinions (which are the same as yours), but it works against me and only creates distance.

He is the School District Spokesperson, and therefore the face of the county schools for years, he is who reaches out to the media that a closure is in effect.

Sort of like at my job. The web mistress has a group she texts when we close hours before it is announced so she is who we want to hear from, but the decision is made from higher up.

I understand this was actually recorded with help by the local News station Andy once worked for, hence the high quality of it.

God bless you for that! Mine were home schooled too.

And now that my office is in my home I have no snow days either.

I do take it easy when almost all employees are off, yet I'm careful to answer emails, Skypes, and Team calls in seconds.

I consider maintaining my office at my home to be a privilege not to be abused.
