Total BS call, 7.70 not squeezing?

I didn't see any line purging in all that and everyone of his launches was textbook perfect. The 7.70 was way out of line with what he'd been running but every now and then things WILL come together just purr- fectly. If that was any kind of motor only rules event you can best believe he got inspected after that run.

Hmmm.... there was no claim it had a Pontiac motor, could be a 632 Chevy but still couldn't run 7.70 NA, no?

The # stenciled on it is 421, I'm going to bet it's got a 421 SD as the base motor. 421 SD's were developed specifically for racing and adapted for the street, not the other way around. Pontiac claimed 405hp () and Motor Trend said more like 460. this being Unlimited Stock it's probably reasonable to expect enough modifications to bump it to 800 or more. With a good chassis set up right and a driver who knows his sh..., err, stuff I think that's doable.

Let me see what else I can come up with on the car, BRB.

That's amazing. I had a 81 Turbo T/A I bought right outta high school. Crappy motor but the boost lights for an 18yo kid was righteous. I have a 76 firebird sitting in my barn right now that is all original 350 motor that's shot but still runs. I have a 400 sitting on my motor stand that I need to get off my ass and finish to make Tweety Bird come alive.

That would be a nice upgrade for sure, I'll probably go with elderbrock aluminum if I can swing the extra dinero when I start my build.

I had a 68 Firebird convertible. Sold it in 2014 and every now and then I wish I hadn't. It was tons of fun to drive but not practical to own.

I had one too, green 350 2 barrel Powerglide for wife to drive to work. Eventually pushed it over a cliff. Remember me as a 65 GTO Hurst, Muncie high rise Holly positraction guy please.

My bird was a tad modified from stock was a factory 4 speed car. Never owned a goat but I really liked the 1st gen models.
