User ID: 40546062 United States 02/11/2021 02:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm over 50 and have had many, many cars. I have owned everything from most every car brand you can buy in the US not including some exotics. I have never owned Lexus but I have own Toyota. My all time favorite was my then new 1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0, My favorite but FAR from the best car I have owned. I own a Dodge Hellcat now and it's a fun car but far from the best, fastest but not the best. I have owned many Ford Crown Vics with the 4.6 engine, I have owned a few police versions and a lX. I believe all in all this was the best car one could buy sadly production ended 2012. I owned a 1990 Mazda Protege and it was one of the best cars, The manual gear shift was so smooth. One thing I noticed is that car would almost never turn the oil black after a oil change. The oil would stay clear many, many miles. I never purchased Mazda again but looking to do so as I could just tell that was a well built car. I have owned Hondas and are good cars but its a soulless car. Fantastic resale value so perhaps a great car to buy. I loved Volvos back in the day but not a fan anymore. I have owned so many cars and trucks, perhaps as many as 30 or 40? The worst car was a 1990 Mercedes. If I had to pick one car that is THE BEST, I would say its my 2017 Ford Fusion SE with a 2.0L 4 cyl. Sadly Ford just stopped production on the Fusion. The reason my Ford Fusion is the best is based a few things... Price paid, Over all value, ride, fun to drive, requires little low cost service, does everything a car is suppose to do. I purchased my 17 Fusion used with only 500 miles, Ford Cars loose value the 1st year so it makes a fantastic value to buy a low mile used one. The Fusion is "peppy" with that turbo 2.0. It feels fun to drive and I own a Hellcat with 707 HP. The Fusion is one of the quietest car on the inside I have owned, its not a Lexus but is easy on the ears, very low highway noise, Can't say that for my Honda. The interior is not high end but comfortable. The radio sounds fantastic, Not as loud as my Hellcat 18 speaker radio w/ subs but the Fusion sounds better ( I'm a audio tech ) LED headlights, best headlights of any car I have ever owned. I can see far down the road even on low beam, great for over 50 eyes. My 2014 Subaru WRX had the worst headlights, could not see the road at night if raining, scary and was a brand new car. Service, I love my local ford dealer, parts and oil changes are cheap! Can't say that about my local BMW dealer... IMO, whatever new or newer car one buys you are also buying the local dealership. Research the local dealership IMO is as important as the car. As example I almost had to call the police over a oil change at my local Chevy dealer, Not that all Chevys or Chevy dealers are bad but Im never going back into my local dealer so no Chevys till I move. My local Dodge Dealer is almost as bad, I do have a great Honda dealer in the area so I consider the big picture when buying a car / truck/ Suv or van. I guess I prefer Ford in general and one big reason is the local dealer, ease of fantastic service and just good, small town service. The 2nd reason is the fantastic Ford AC! Best AC period and Im going all the way to the 80's to new! I am in the deep coastal south, almost always over 90% humidity. All my Fords will blast cold air and extra cool the car or truck / van. My new Ram, New VW, New Honda, New Dodge hellcat, New Subaru all would cool but not as well as any and all of my Fords in my extra high humidity area. The great AC and the fact my local Ford dealer is so fantastic I will always consider a Ford 1st but I love and buy all cars! Last Edited by Soundman on 02/11/2021 03:41 PM Soundman |

That's why they stopped making them. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. |

But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." Marcus Tullius Cicero |

The most unreliable car I inherited was a 2005 Buick Lacrosse which recently sold it was good until 80,000 miles then it became a pain the ass transmission had to be repaired, two ABS speed senor, front left axle, catalytic converter, one wheel bearing, the hvac blower, temperatue gauge, water pump tubes and seals had to be fixed. It actually ran really good for the 10,000 miles I had it. I sold it at 164,000 miles. earthshaker |

I still saw it occasionally on the road. Was a great car but when you hit the brakes, even on dry pavement it would slide all over the road. Main reason I got rid of it. Never bought a Chevy again "It's a friendly friendly world" (Andy Kaufman) Calm seas do not a sailor make, Nor easy horses, a horseman. I also have 2000 GMC Jimmy I bought her brand new and I still have her. Just had her 21st birthday - she's a dear old friend of mine. My most fun car though was a 67 GTO - I was 16 and stupid. Should have died many times but had a guardian angel with me I guess..... |

I did get in trouble for doing 177 MPH. 2002 Jeep Liberty, I bought it 4 years ago for $1200 and planned on using it for a couple months till I found something better. I needed something to pull my trailer with right away when the transmission went out of my Ford Explorer. So I bought the 1st thing I found that had a hitch and could pull a loaded trailer. I still have it and it never lets me down. I have done nothing but remove the front drive shaft to help with the gas mileage, (saves 5mpg when pulling a loaded trailer) I do not need the 4wd but I can easily put the shaft back in half an hour. It now has 320,000 miles. It does use a quart of oil for every 4 fuel fill ups and I have to put freon in the AC every now and then. If it blew up tomorrow I could not be upset because I got my $$$ out of it 10x over. |

My old 1994 Ranger was hands down the best vehicle I ever owned. 4.0 V6 with a stick. Paid $200 for it, beat the absolute bag out of it for almost 8 years before trading it in for my 2016 RAV4. The RAV is now my second favorite vehicle, especially after all of the customizing I did to make it far more utilitarian than a damn grocery getter. darylandcat.com |

It was garage kept and had routine maintenance performed. Never had any major repairs done. Even had a cassette player. I only sold it because I needed something more reliable in rain and snow. Those rear-wheel drive behemoths fish-tail all like all Hell while turning in a rainstorm. Got an SUV now. Phil Murphy is a Marxist asshole. |
