I have driven a good amount of cars in my 42 years of drivin. Started out with my dads 69 Buick wildcat awesome car but ugly, but then I got 2 Buick 225s nice ride but ran out of gas many times LOL, then 2 skylarks those were fun to drive!

But for today, I Love my 2016 Mazda CX-5, it’s a small suv with lots of get up and go!! Plus you can up the torque by a button and it can even go faster but it will eat more gas. It is an Awesome car!!!!!

Surprisingly a 1994 Olds Cutlass Seira. Besides an Alternator I had zero problems with that car and it ran just as good the day I totaled it as it did the day I bought it. Well over 200,000 miles and I bet it would have got 200,000 more.

Still have a 77 Jeep, been in the family since it rolled off the lot! I just had a new engine put in it last year.

Chevy Suburban...Hands down.

I've owned about a dozen so far.
Bought them all used and every one has been a workhorse.

70's through early 90's will last forever.

2000's and newer have more computer controlled powertrain components but are still very dependable in spite of repair costs. They are MUCH more comfortable than their predecessors. LT models ride like a cadillac with a swanky interior. My wife loves the heated seats in ours.

You can tune the hell out of them for better mileage, acceleration, and towing capacity too...And cheap.

Nearly 70 so lets see; A 1966 Mustang, sold when I went to the service. Most fun, go any where vehicle was a 1996 GEO Tracker, Now I drive a 2007 FJ Toyota. It is as fun and reliable vehicle.

My first car was a 1960 Plymouth. I bought it because I could not get a date to ride on my motorcycle in the winter. Monster V-8, the whole car would dip to one side from the torque of the starter when your started the car. Push-button shift on the dashboard. Square steering wheel and dome over the speedometer to complete the space-age cockpit and large fins and fake spare-tire on the trunk.

My 2003 Subaru Outback stick shift. Now has 204,000 miles on it.

At 199,400 miles had to replace original alternator.

At 202,500 miles replaced the clutch.

I am a maintenance fiend so I am not counting oil changes, brakes, battery, tires, etc.

I live at 7,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains and that little SUV car still gets 30 mpg.

When it finally dies, I am getting another one.

I had an 1986 subaru station wagon that lasted 1.5 million km's. But. There is always a but right? A decent late 80's Volvo or Benz can last as long. Or longer. My cars were always buy and toss.
 Quoting: Lance Roseman From BC

I was going to reply with this same car.Gold 86 subaru station wagon, my first car. Ugly as hell but drove it 600k+ miles. I prayed for its death but it just kept on ticking, literally like an overgrown sewing machine lol. I broke the key off in the ignition one day and left it where it sat. Now I wish I had the ugly beast again.
 Quoting: Fckoffwtht

I gave it to Russian family in East Vancouver that had only been in Canada for a few months. 'You give me car, for free?'...yes, just move it from my yard to yours. Ie, next door. He came back over, his extended family pushed the thing to his yard. Then he and his wife showed up and we polished off 40 oz's of vodka with snacky type foods...I saw it still driving (with the wife driving) a few years later. I have no idea how long it really lasted.

Re: What is the BEST Car you've Ever owned...For those Over 40, Cause...Experience Counts!
My favorite car was a spotless, near-showroom-quality, white, 4-door 1974 Lincoln Continental with power everything. It still had the original sticker on the rear driver's side window. The owner kept it parked in the garage all the time and only drove it to church on Sunday and to the grocery store once or twice a month. It had 6,000 original miles. That car was the ultimate luxury land boat, with a powerful engine.

Believe it or not, I bought it for a thousand bucks. That's what the Kelly Blue Book price was and the seller was an honest man.

I was 19 when I had it, and cruised around with windows down and Van Halen blasting on the high-quality stereo. Unfortunately, I drove that car to death (thrown rod). I regret not taking better care of it.

1967 Pontiac Firebird, my first car, fun, fun, fun!

1970 Ford Torino 350 Cleveland Engine, that car was fast!

1994 Mercury Capri XR2 (turbo), loved that car, so much fun to drive! Handled great. Sold it with 175,000 on it kicking myself for selling it.

Our 2000 & 2003 Chevy Trackers, plain jane's, but very reliable (my husband had the 2000 4x4, I had the 2003 4x4). They were our commuter vehicles. Rusted out but the engines/trans/4wd/interior all still good...figures right? We drove these for close to 10 years.

2009 Buick LaCrosse. Most comfortable with the 3.8 engine that goes and goes and goes. No major issues.

Now I have a 2017 Buick Enclave, it's ok, it's my comfy safe gramma retirement car :).

P.S. I'd like another zippy coupe to be honest :) My son's 1991 Honda CRX was the BOMB!

That's why you are destined to buy and replace junk cars every year or 2.

I bought a new Camry and it was my daily car for 25 years.
Still had a used Celica as a spare, still ran at over 30 years old.

You will get what you pay for.

I have spent 20,000 buying 3 cars since 1989, one new and 2 used.
No car payments since 1992, currently own a 2014.

Your only choices, if you don't want to be a slave to crap cars are Toyota, Honda, Subaru... in that order.
Who does your thinking?

GMC pickups. I’ve owned three. Put 250,000 on two of them. I’m working on the third but may trade it in for a 2500. Usually the interiors wear out, the drive train is fine.

Had a Subaru Legacy that had an undisclosed number of miles on it, I’m guessing over 300,000. Drove that thing everywhere. I never got stuck. It needed more HP.

Most of these I got rid of because the replacement parts were way too expensive. $75 for a door handle that will break in 2 months. More of an annoyance really.

My 2017 Tacoma TRD PRO was the best.

Drove it hard, sold it 2 years later. Ended up paying less than a lease payment at the end of the day.

Look at what holds value, your gonna find toyota.

Not trying to sound like a tree-hugging liberal, but the Toyota Prius is a great little car. I have seen several with over 400,000 miles on the clock, and I personally turned one over 600,000 miles.

1985 Toyota SR5. 4WD, 22R 4cyl engine, 5spd manual (millennial anti-theft device).

Blew the head gasket at approx 55k miles, oil mixed with the antifreeze, drove it another 40k miles (zero maintenance) before I threw a rod and cratered the engine.

I was 16, and drove it like it was stolen every day. If there was a puddle in a field, I turned it into a mud hole, every chance I got.

Dropped a short block in it and drove it another 40k miles before I totaled it. Rolled it end over end twice and sideways 4 times (according to witnesses). Doing reverse donuts in a cow pasture. We did flip it back upright and it got me back home.

Knowing what I do now, I wish I still had that truck. I probably would, had I taken better care of it.

Im 35 . First car I was 13 yo was 1961 Chevy biscayne ran perfect . 235 3 on the tree. 4 door. Rebuilt the engine new clutch 6 years ago. Just needs body work sold it to a neighbor whose a mechanic. Just don't feel like investing the time or money to fix it. Im sure he'd sell it back to me. Also have a 1978 gmc 2 door truck thats a rust bucket but it fires up every time. Use it as a wood hauling truck or dump trash.

87 Chevy pickup, I put 300,000 miles on it before I had to rebuild the motor and transmission. Drove it for another 100,000 before I sold it to a friend who put another 150,000 on it until he hit a bear and the insurance company totaled it.
