I've bought beers with silver, my barber takes silver. In fact I got a free haircut and beard trim once when I hadn't seen Kim in awhile and she explained how the silver she had collected allowed her to eat for a few weeks when she was going through a rough patch. Never tried to buy a car with it. Au would probably be a better bet for that.
