And the Grave was closely following him. And authority was given them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with a long sword and with food shortage and with deadly plague and by the wild beasts of the earth. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80034604 United States 02/13/2021 02:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Catholics are Christians. Any Catholic who says otherwise is misinformed or ignorant. In fact we were the only Christians for the first 1,500 years of Christian history. We do not put the Pope above Christ. He is a sinner and a fallible man. He is only considered infallible when making official Church teaching on faith and morals because by the power of the Holy Spirit Christ's Church will never teach error. Non-Catholic Christians should be asking why they abandoned the Eucharist and confession, sacraments which were practiced by all Christians worldwide from the time of the apostles until a 15th-century German decided they were no longer necessary. Jesus instituted the Eucharist very clearly at the last supper. He explicitly gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins when he said "Whoever's sins you forgive are forgiven and whoever's wins you retain are retained." An institution needs a leader. Why are Christians willing to acknowledge the authority of their local pastor in jeans and a flannel over the leader of the Church that was instituted by Christ and traces itself in unbroken succession back to the apostles? Why are non-Catholic bibles missing 7 of the original books? And by the way, the books of the Bible were chosen at Catholic Church councils. To acknowledge the authority of Sacred Scripture is to acknowledge the authority of the Catholic Church. I'm guessing that the reason comments are turned off on the youtube video posted by the OP are because of points like the ones I just made. And I could go on and on. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Come home to the Catholic Church and the fullness of the faith. Give it a fair chance. It has produced countless men and women of heroic virtue all over the world throughout the ages for a reason and it has always taught the truth on faith and morals to this day. It stands strong on teaching the truth while tens of thousands of other denominations disagree on all sorts of things. Christ established one Church and the night before his death he prayed with tears that his people would be one so that the world would see their unity and know that they are God's children. To divide the Church, the Body of Christ, is in and of itself an un-Christian act and anyone who did so is guilty of a grave sin. May God have mercy on their souls. Catholics do not believe that all non-Catholics go to Hell. Most non-Catholic Christians do know Jesus, but they are deprived of the fullness of the faith found in the power and grace of the sacraments and the traditions and wisdom passed down from the many saints dating back to the time of the apostles. God bless you all. |

Nor would a true Christian focus on rote rituals and written verse memorization. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80018556 Spirituality is about having a relationship with Christ. You don't think Catholics have a relationship with Jesus. O, the ignorance. Isn't it just practical that Christ's Church has a human leader since Christ no longer physically walks the Earth? Didn't the angel Gabriel say to Mary "Hail, Full of grace!" (The original Greek translation uses the word kekaratomine, meaning "She who has been graced to the full") Didn't Mary's cousin Elizabeth say, when filled with the Holy Spirit, "Who am I that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?" Didn't Mary, of her own free will, bring about the salvation of all mankind by allowing herself to be the vessel of the Son of God when she said to the Angel Gabriel "Behold the handmaiden of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to you word." Didn't Jesus say on the cross "Behold your Mother?" Mary was the perfect example of one who submitted their will to God as we are all called to do. Of Jesus, she said "Do whatever he tells you." She willingly allowed her son to be crucified for the our salvation. Isn't one of the ten commandments to honor our father and mother? Mary is the Mother of God, and Christ called us his brothers and sisters. When filled with the Holy Spirit, Mary declared "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked with favor upon my lowliness, and from this day forth all generations will call me blessed." Do you call Mary blessed? If not, you may want to re-read the Gospels. At the last supper Jesus instituted himself as the new Passover lamb, saying the bread and wine was his body and blood which would be given up for the forgiveness of sins. He instructed his followers to continue partaking of this meal. You call that a "rote ritual?" Do you call baptism a "rote ritual?" Jesus himself was baptized. Study the Church fathers, because the Catholic sacraments were practiced by all Christians from the earliest days of Christianity. |
