No violence, no repression like a protest in democratic country should look. Compared to Eu where protesters are beaten, imprisoned and even killed. Example of France, Netherlands Catalnia, Spain and so on. Kudos to Russian government, let them protest it is sign of democracy. |

I honestly have not heard much about what they have been doing the last 9 months compared to all other countries. is this what the protest is about? i was under the impression that Russia was pretty chill about the whole covid thing compared to the UK and Australia and the others. thanks for the info. We never hear much about what's going on over there, except that you guys are always meddling in our elections. Grove And this is why we can't have nice things. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79731233 We have had people beaten, shocked with tasers (one person lost consciousness from that kind of tazing), and arrested brutally. This is just one example. If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes. |

We never hear much about what's going on over there, except that you guys are always meddling in our elections. The Covid rules are rather lax. People are protesting what's going on with those in power. I haven't delved deep into their philosophy as I try to stay as neutral as possible. But most likely over 100 Russian cities and towns have hosted protests today. If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes. |

(OP) User ID: 76668580 Norway 01/31/2021 06:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | To sum up the day of protests, a record-breaking 5000 people have been arrested yesterday Russia-wide. Over eighty of them were journalists. In total, I'd say well over 100 000 people went out to protest, but can't find any firm numbers on attendance. Sadly one can get hooked for 'fake news' here if a media reports any other attendance number, then the official. People are planning another protest tomorrow outside the court where Mr. Navalnyj's trial will be held to decide if he gets a real prison sentence. Yes, but I don't think they were arrested for nothing or am I wrong? People who get arrested are usually violent and act aggressive towards authorities, am I right? https://twitter.com/_/status/1353006569689128963 You said you live in Moscow so to me you're very important source of information although I'm aware you're a liberal. Do you think aggressive protests are justified? Do you believe in violent take over of power? Do you think that Russian color revolution like it happened in Ukraine would be beneficial for Russian nation? I got hundreds questions for you so I apologize if it is a bit overwhelming. What is your opinion on Navalny? I hear all sorts of bad things about him. Well it depends how bad they're considering on which side of political spectrum a person resides. For instance, I don't understand how is it possible that western political elite stands behind Navalny considering who the man actually is. I hear Navalny is a hard core far rightist. A racist who is against multiethnical Russia, he despises Russian muslims and speaks openly against them. He is against building of mosques in Russia, he led a racist promoted riots in Russia few years ago against Muslims and so on. What I don't understand is how is it possible then that West chose him to fight Putin's rule? Don't you think that is a bit hypocritical from western point of view considering what West stands for today? I listened to this guy podcast who spoke a lot of stuff on situation but who knows if he's honest. That's why I'm asking you as a first hand witness, you actually live there. (OP) User ID: 79839364 Russia 02/02/2021 07:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am in general against violent protests. If individuals get cocky, they should be handled. That is not a reason to shut everyone down, who is protesting peacefully. The provocateurs may even be gvmt. stooges to paint those who dare attend and voice their opposition in a bad light. What I have seen of live streams so far I have high doubts that over 7 000 people were all behaving violently and assaulting the police. I try to stay as neutral as possible with our politics, wanting to get the hell away from here ASAP. In related news Mr. Navalny is now being tried for evading his bail terms while he was in a coma at a German hospital. Truly Kafka has graced our court system with his ghostly presence. You ever go ask Spaniards how democratic they are when they jail an artist who wrote a song about Spanish government and their monarchy? That was a free speech case! All he did was write a rap song in which he critisized government and he got nine months. |

American NGO backed noise and a bunch of easily led young people who act as pawns. If you want Russia to look like Ukraine then install this puppet. I think that should be common sense to anyone with a brain. Unfortunately the shit news here will never say the truth, and most people buy into the whole spreading democracy. |

Thanks to our bought and paid for media everyone thinks Navalny is some kind of hero. That Putin's palace vid was utter BS. Two Russian reporters went there and discovered it's a shell with lots of issues. According to construction workers on the site the plan is that it is eventually to become a high end resort hotel. All of the interiors were faked. It's a lie on the scale of bin Laden's multi story cave hideout in Afghanistan and brought to us by the same Neocons who are now back in power.
