Defiant Redditors buy Times Square billboard as GameStop stock saga rages

Yeah, not buying any of this.

A group of Redditors just happened to meticulously track GameStop's stock for almost two years (since 2019) and happened to figure out that the stock was shorted up to 140%... and the traders would have to cough up the capital to cover the shorts, if the stock suddenly rocketed up in value?

Yeah, that's not even plausible as a fictional TV show.

You have to be a seasoned trader to understand one aspect of what I just said... nevermind have the foresight to pull it all off.

Again, it's a controlled demolition, pulled off by professional traders...POSING as Redditors.

They can't just pull the rug on the stock market, but they are starting to rock it back and forth, until it tips over.

But whatever, I'm trying to talk sense to people on fucking GLP...

More likely someone is extorting wall street and has weaponized these retail rube traders to do it.

Skies above east central Florida were covered by airliner trails which lingered all day, making a clear blue sky cloudy. The jets were side by side at times.

Yes but it's fun to see. Unfortunately it my impact my 401K negatively.

You don't realize how many people have recently in the past few years have gotten into stock trading.

The shorted shares are available for anyone with who has the right broker features to see and share.

I started trading when I wasn't getting no return on my savings account. I make trades usually with the goal of making 5-8% profit per trade. I'm currently up 63% since November 2020. When the pandemic started I watched my 401k plummet. I move more money into my broker accounts and I invested heavily in the companies that was making mask like APT and companies making vaccines like Novax etc. I did very well while all other stocks across the board was plummeting. I also did very well with buying the oil stocks like MPC and MRO when they hit the bottom I bought and by June-July I had more than doubled my money in those stocks

This quickly taught me that no matter how bad the market gets there is always a stock that is moving up.

Now I fully agree there is probably a conspiracy behind all this but I think you're missing what it actually is. You see I think dogecoin was pumped & dumped last week as an effort to try and help save the blood bath with Gamestop.

I predict there will be many more attempts for another Gamestop event to take place but only a few of them will be successful. Many people will lose money attempting to repeat a gain like we saw with Gamestop. And when those people (retail investors) lose money the shorts that lost money on Gamestop will make money at the expense of all those with FOMO. (Fear of missing out)

My whole fucking point is: these aren't a bunch of rebel gamers in their basement, taking down "the man".

It's professional traders, exposing a once in blue moon short for their own personal gain, and to show the cracks in the current system.

All that will result is stricter regulation and distaste for trading stocks among retailers... which might be exactly what Wall Street wanted in the first place.

This is like hearing 19 Saudis carried out 9/11... and you're all swallowing it hook, line, and sinker. You know how complex and multifaceted the 9/11 attacks were? No, it was just 19 Saudis with box cutters... right?

Can the hedge fund place another hedge double the amount to cover their shares to buy back then dump the rest on the market at these higher prices?

If so this is a really risky game and the hedge fund still profits.

They won't do that. It'll crash the system. There are millions of retail investors just like me with accounts over 25k. Retail investors is exactly who the hedge funds usually make their money off of.

And retail investors are using brokers so I'm not sure what your implying there.

They could. But it's highly likely they can't afford it. Imagine they borrowed shares at $18 and it went over $500. We're talking 10s of thousands of shares borrowed at $18 that must be paid back at 100s.

Thank you for saving me 1000 @15$ that I have been holding forever. I literally sold at 340$ and never looked back. This is a rescue plan more than a plan to drive hedge funds under. They bought on the way up to cover position and at worst will break even. This stock will be an OTC stock very soon

This is NOT true. By now there is at least a million people from all over the world in the game, from Europa, Asia, Australia, South America.
We ALL want to crash Melvin and his Boys to make a point and of course, we like the stock.

If they're able to keep the share price up long enough it'll qualify to be added to the Nasdaq.

Retail trading has added to the infamous "exuberance" of the market. Case in point, this very episode. Totally detached from actual value.

The market has become nothing more thsn legalized gambling.

It's certainly no longer an win/win situatiin for companies to raise money to put back into operations/expansion and investors to make money.

It's a game. A shell game at that.
