There was only on EO regarding Obamacare and it didn't restore obamacare. That EO opens a special enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act through HealthCare.gov, the federally run health insurance marketplace. The enrollment period will run from Feb. 15 to May 15, giving Americans who have lost their employer-based health insurance because of the coronavirus pandemic an opportunity to sign up for coverage. It also directed some policy reviews of AXA and Medicaid. Not much income, less than $40k because we have savings. Our ACA premium is $135/month with Fed subsidies that I don't mind accepting as I worked my whole life and paid taxes since I was 16. Without Obamacare there's no way in hell anyone would sell us insurance and even if they did, they would exclude our pre-existing conditions and we couldnt afford it anyway. I don't know how I could ever paid for my wife's surgery and she would be in heart failure by now. So dictator Biden signed an EO today to open a window for those like us who lost insurance to be able to get insurance. Good for him and for those people. It works for people in your situation, but for those that previously made over $64k a year (and get terminated) it's almost prohibitively expensive. It's that $64k CLIFF. My friend's husband couldn't work and collected SSI early at 62 and he got it for $56 a month because his wife was only bringing in $1000 on SSDI. So great for them! My husband made over $64k before he was laid off; couldn't afford Cobra at $1600 a month (this was 5 to 6 years ago), it was $1000 a month a month for us and we were both still in our later 50s. See the difference? FYI...when you sign up for ACA it asks for your expected income, not your past income. So if you were laid off and are collecting much less than in the past, your premium is based on WHAT YOU PUT IN AS YOUR EXPECTED INCOME. |
