Why are employer retirement contributions FORCED to go into the stock market
Why is there no employer that provides a retirement plan that allows the employee to take the funds and invest them in something tangible?

Because they were taking the money and investing it for themselves without giving the retirees a fair cut.

We are the malcontents, idealists, speculators, dreamers, inventors, debtors and criminals who would not be chained. We don't play well with others, we are brash, outlandish and cunning. let us do what we do best; let us be Americans.

The cancel culture anti-free speech neo-fascist Demoncrats have been playing the hate game for over a century; they know exactly how to tank anything they want with their professionally paid Thugs and agitators whether in the physical world or the cyber world, and they're organized like a pack of bloodthirsty wolves.

Self directed IRA. Your employer probably doesn't offer it, but if you change jobs, your old 401k can be transferred to such an IRA.

Re: Why are employer retirement contributions FORCED to go into the stock market
One thing you can do is setup a brokerage link for your 401k which allows you to buy what ever investments are available through your 401k company like say Fidelity.... Then have 100% go into Short Term Fund or Interest Income, this is holding in Cash USD with a small amount of interest... then you get your employer match, you can then move those funds into the brokerage link some allow it directly into brokerage link some do not.

You can then pick any investments available in all of the platform. so maybe one would want to get an investment that is holding physical gold / silver / metals of 75% of the holdings and only 25% stock , but the stock is mining companies.

Its maybe a safer or better play than the funds to choose that your employer sticks you with. most people do not realize they can use this type of method with their 401k.

I am sure you would all check with your 401k company and or financial advisor anyways and already know about this.

Re: Why are employer retirement contributions FORCED to go into the stock market
My employer stopped matching 401k contributions. I pulled all my money out (no penalty due to COVID) and bought bitcoin. Also took advantage of the mortgage forberance, 3 months delayed payment until end of loan term. Put that into bitcoin. Got a loan to build a garage before COVID, but then decided to buy bitcoin instead.

Stocks are about to have a big panic sell due to this wallstreetbets shennanigans, that money won't just stay in USD either, perfect storm for a big bitcoin rally.

Because the investment companies set up the accounts for the employers and do the monitoring for free

Commodity asset plans are super expensive

One I looked into CHARGED $4000 to set up the account and then you could buy real estate - but can’t live in it - remodel it yourself - rent it to relatives

Super expensive

The free accounts are set up by traders in the stock market - and they charge a fee - some fairly high- to administrative them

Ya can tell them to put your assets in a money market account close to cash
