okay science has never been my strong suit, but wouldn't electric vehicles leave us more open to an IED or other crippling attack, whereas diesel engines offer less vulnerability to that type of interference?

Will he be auctioning the outdated gas powered vehicles? Or will he just send them to the crushers? I'll bet they get auctioned cheap and flood the used car market then everyone including the lenders can eat crow and die. That's the way of the new admn. So if you sell your old car now you might miss the party and get a good deal for yourself at least.

EDIT: i meant to add hacking as well. All these electric vehicles with their computer chips are vulnerable to sophisticated hacks. If China and Russia have been hacking into our nuclear plants and other infrastructure, couldn't they hack into our Govt electric cars and mess with the steering system, etc.
China/Russia could conceivably carry out assassinations this way.

i had a 1983 bronco with no emissions equipment that did not qualify because it was TOO OLD

The C.for C program literally required vehicles that were newer than 1984 but at least 10 years old

natural gas vehicles. It was an extremely expensive failure. But what the heck, it's not their hard earned money....
