I have a telescope that has a star map built into the controller. It detects time via GPS. It is always spot on accurate. Does the scope "know" where its pointing? Not really. It has stored pointing directions. Well they could be updating it you might say. The scope has not been updated since 2008. You WILL KNOW if there is ever a shift in predicted orbital mechanics, because every amateur astronomer will get passed off all at once and blow up starrynights forums. |
