I do not believe death alone is an escape from the matrix. I believe if you die before internalizing Christ Nirvana (consciousness) you will be recycled and reincarnate. I believe you need this soul upgrade to escape. Getting old helps as it is more time and experience to gain new internalizations but it is the latter themselves that mark your ascension.
