Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general don't give a shit anymore, they're all about renewing copyrights now and they don't even care if anyone watches, listens to or reads what they produce. What's worse, is they can produce the worst garbage imaginable and there are people out there somewhere who'll watch it so they make money no matter how bad it is. All of this is a consequence the of the DMCA and the endless copyright renewals that allow rights holders to profit off of any property they can get their hands on and do it forever. As long as they hold the rights, they can profit with minila expendature and zero effort. You can make a few million producing a good quality show or you can make millions renewing the rights on older ones and profiting through steaming services, digital sales and physical media sales on top of live tv channels. You can make ten million net profit on a big budget block buster or you can make tens of millions renewing copyrights on old ones. It's not rocket science, it's easy money. I realize most people don't understand how the system works, epsecially with collecting insurance on properties that bomb so the rights holders profit no matter what but I do understand it and trust me when I say, they don't give a shit anymore and it's only going to get worse.
